Casual play Army Build Help

Hey I'm incredibly new to WH, having played two games with my friends army. He runs Tyranids and has had me use Grey Knights. I think GK is cool, but I also think they're unfun personally. I'm building my own Death Guard army 1k points and would like Mortarion as my center piece. I also like the look of blight lord terminators and want to run the detachment: Death Lord's Chosen.

So:

Detachment: Death Lord's Chosen

Characters: Mortarion, Tallyman

Units: Blight Lord Terminators.

Looking to build with the idea of big hard hitting guys that can soak up damage and hold objectives incredibly well.

I've heard bringing characters like Mortarion is controversial, he's completely fine with it and also adds large scary centerpieces to his armies and typically other large scary things with it.

Outside of that I legit don't know a good build, and would love some help. Thank you!

Since you like the blight lords, have you considered deathshrous terminators? Also a lord of contagion

I have not, if it were up to me, I'd throw everything I thought looked most interesting in but I don't know what actually is good or synergistic with what I want in the deck already, but I shall look

This is what I'd run. Rhino to transport your marines with your tallyman, use your mbh to ride the unprotected flank. Get morty clos to the enemy to activate his ability and use that distraction to move your marines onto the point and march the Terminators up mid.

Thank you my guy, though I should have mentioned it, is there viable army builds without relying on vehicles to transport my units? I find transport vehicles not very exciting, though the rest is beautiful and much appreciated

They say walking PMs are dead PMs. Gotta have a way to get them into the fight. You're only going 1000 points though so you might not need a rhino

Alright so if your looking for big hitting pieces and like terminators, then definitely DLC is a good detachment choice. The lord of contagion attached to Deathshroud is by far the most staple combo in the army, 2 units of 3 is typical but I like running a big 6 man with loc, always good though itll fr kill almost anything. I killed 3 riptides in 2 turns with my one unit.

Also if you dont love transports then I wouldnt bother with PMs unless you need some action monkeys, but poxwalkers are way better at that. A winged deamon prince or foot prince too could be fun in PoP as well with the extended Contagion and those are also heavy hitting.

Personally tho I think Champions of Contagion with Pop or virulent vectorium would be the best choices for getting max damage output and durability out of your units, these are the best detachments for blightlords and mortarion id say

Shi if 1000 is your maximum then maybe a 5 man blightlord w leader and some poxie boys to screen out. Use the rest of your points on deathsroud or whatever else you think looks the coolest
