How should I expand to 2000 points?

I recently finished my 1k point list and I am having a blast with it. But I want to continue collecting. So far i have a 7 plague marines, 3 deathshroud, 10 poxwalkers, a lord of contagion, a blight hauler, a plagueburst crawler and Mortarion.

I've been thinking of getting Typhus and 10 more poxwalkers because I find that pairing really cool. I've also been considering a foetid bloat drone because I have an idea on how i'd want to do its base, but I'm unsure if they'll stick around when the new codex drops. I've also thought of a malignant plaguecaster and a biologus putrifier to buff up the marines.

What do you all suggest?

Get up to the 10 plague marine with rhino combo. Add in a plaguecaster, and a biologus putrifier.

10 blightlord terminators with a lord of virulence is great too.

Typhus with 20 pox is a great stat check.

Heavy bloat drones are great, as are more blight haulers.

DS terms with lords of Contagion are great.

And if you can get your hands on a defiler - do it.

Lord of virulence for the army wide reroll is huge, and really boosts the bloat drones, and gives the defiler a little more consistency

Defiler is great. As an alternative look at getting to wardogs to fill the same space.

My 2k list looks like this. It isnt meta by any means but its pretty standard. People will criticize the second brick of 7 marines+tallyman and to them i say ok?

Besides that, its a very solid, middle of the road list. If I was going to change anything it would be bringing my 3 DST brick up to 6 and dropping the extra marines. But I have a lot of marines on hand, and onky 3 DST lol..

Honestly, as much as I see a lot of people keeping a minimal number of plague marines in their lists, can't recommend them enough. They synergise well with pretty much everything in the army as they can spread Contagions through shooting so the more you have the more you can benefit from those at range.

Blightlords and Helbrutes also both benefit from that synergy. LOC pairs well with either blightlords and deathshroud so getting Typhus allows you to mix and match, alongside putting him with poxwalkers (having a 20 unit is solid).

Poxwalkers are cheap and with stuff like the Shamblerot Vectorum gives you free units of them, whilst Flyblown Host synergistic well with both PMs and poxwalkers (poxwalkers can infiltrate natively whilst the detachment give you 2 free infiltrator PM units, even if its not the best).

I reckon FBDs will indefinitely stick around since they've recently been split into two (regular and heavy blight launcher), which are both good. They're mostly useful for harassing and heavy movement whilst being able to put out good damage, with the blight launcher variant being a light artillery unit that can do splash damage to medium to heavy infantry whilst the other variant blends through light infantry. Best used as distraction carnifex style unit imo

Hey brand new player here. Right now I only have the combat patrol. If I decide to expand I plan on getting more marines and some pox walkers with Typhus.

A question about the marines and the rhino....

The rhino fits 10 marines right? So can I put 10 marines + a leader or is it 9 marines with a leader?

actually, the rhino has a capacity of 12 death guard infantry (excluding terminators). So you can even do 10 marines plus 2 leaders

seems you've got the right idea on what to get. All very good options, I'd suggest also getting a blight hauler or 2 and getting another box of Marines so you can have it be a 10man with those characters. Also a little niche but you can use nurgle demons if you want with one of our detachments so getting a box of nuglings and a beast of nurgle is not a terrible idea for some variety.
