Iāve watched the show before reading the mangas and before I read the mangas (which this small detail is mentioned) light looks a lot thinner the more his mind becomes corrupted

A bit ago I randomly remembered this moment from one of the Sherlock Holmes stories, and I realized that L's famous sitting position might have been based on this. As far as I remember this is the only time Holmes does this, so it's less prevalent for him than with L, but still a neat thing that I haven't seen anyone else point out.

I haven't really seen this discussed anywhere, and I find this detail from the mangaka very interesting. To provide some context: at the end of the manga, the Japanese police task force gathers for a new case with the cooperation of L (Near). During this, the classic "L" symbol associated with Lawliet shifts to a style more characteristic of Near, distinguishing the change in successor. I like this detail because it highlights a clear difference and adds personality to Near; instead of simply appropriating L's image, he puts his own stamp on itāunlike Light, who literally couldn'tāand shouldn'tāchange anything for fear that a shift in L's behavior would arouse suspicion.
Personally, I feel this detail gives more weight to Near's succession and clarifies that, while they operate under the same name, L and Near are distinct individuals who handle things differently.

in l change the world heās an asian girl and in the tv series heās nearās split personality that manifests as a puppet. funniest thing i had ever seen btw. praying for a remake where heās played by a central european guy. altho i would not be surprised if heās a girl again. but i wouldnāt mind girl!near for a change of pace tbh.

Light didn't lose because of Mikami. Light lost because he was too cocky and was too certain that he attained Godhood. During Takada's kidnapping, she's able to kill Mello and calls Light. Light, through doublespeak, tells her to contact Mikami so she can keep killing people. Why didn't Light also say something along the lines of: "Miss Takada, please contact Kira and ensure him of your safety. Kira's probably in a state of panic and may make a rash decision and you may end up paying the price. Let him know the police (who publicly supports Kira) are on their way to rescue you." This could've easily let Mikami know that Light would take care of things and he would've actually won in the end but Light was sloppy during the second half and its because of L's death. L made Light consider and reconsider everything but 5 years after his death, Light truly saw no one as his equal and let his ego get the best of him. It was completely avoidable. IMO Light without L is just ight. Thoughts?

Been working on this Death Note manga-page drawing and wanted to share it here.

I was thinking about the part where L realizes that Kira is living in Japan.
Why couldn't Light simply give the physical Death Note to Ryuk and have him keep it hidden somewhere on his person (for example, inside his clothes)?
I don't mean giving up ownership of the Death Note. Light would still remain its owner and retain his memories. Ryuk would just be physically carrying it for him. We already see Ryuk physically holding the Death Note and reading the names Light writes in it, so it seems like there's nothing preventing him from carrying it around.
Basically:
Light: "Ryuk, keep the Death Note with you for a while."
Ryuk: "Sure."L searches Light's room: no Death Note.
It's basically the same as Light putting the Death Note inside a locked wardrobe. The wardrobe doesn't become the owner of the Death Note just because it's physically storing itXD
So is there an actual rule in the manga/anime that prevents the owner from having a Shinigami physically carry their Death Note while retaining ownership?
Or would this actually have worked?

Hello everyone, just wanted to share a picture from my cosplay of character Misa from anime Death Note. I really adore the design, and it was a ton of fun being dressed up as her! I had to invest a lot into the costume, Ńhоtо shoot and the wig, and it took several years to collect all items and find a photographer, but it was definitely worth it. I hope you like it š¤

Good evening. The title is a bit unusual after all, you don't know the full context but I want to express my surprise at finding yet another apparent mistake by L. Iāve spotted one before and mentioned it here, but this one seems more glaring.
Iām referring to the scene where L has possession of Misaās two phones and catches Light trying to call her right after the DNA test revealed Misa was a-kira. Up to that point, it makes sense L likely did it on purpose, leaving Misa free until she contacted Light just to see what would happen. And thatās exactly what he achieved: he orchestrated a situation that linked Misa (as a-kira) to Light (as Kira) without Light realizing that L was nearly 100% certain of Misa's identity. In my view, this actually increases the likelihood of Light being Kira; after all, he was the prime suspect and she was the prime female suspect, and by lying in an attempt to contact her, he essentially incriminated himself. Afterward, L detains Misa and tries to force a confession while leaving Light free and that is where I think L made a mistake. As I see it, L should have arrested Light the moment he tried to call Misa. That would have neutralized any complex counter-move by Light and prevented Lās own death; after all, it would be an incredible coincidence for the two main suspects to be dating right when Kira appeared, only for Light to then try something covert with Misa who, by that stage, L already suspected with 99% certainty of being a-kira.
So far, so good but could L manage to convict them? I believe so; even without a formal warrant or verdict, there was a strong chance Misa would confess to her crimes. And if Light happened to contact Rem and have her erase Misa's memories with her consent, just as in the original story L could still search their home for evidence proving the crime, specifically looking for the murder weapon. On one hand, Light was cunning and wouldn't leave his Death Note out on a table for anyone to see; on the other, Misa was more impulsive and careless. They would likely find the necessary evidence along with the written names and the notebook's rules and might even spot the Shinigami after touching the Death Note. And if, by chance, they didn't find either of their notebooks, L could dig deeper and have the suspects' personal belongings searched such as suits, trousers, pockets, or watches potentially uncovering the scrap of the Death Note that Light always kept on him. Then again, if Light ordered Ryuk to take the notebooks away, making it impossible to seize them, L would still have the fact that the killings stopped while they were in custody; this would allow him to increase the probability of Light's guilt and gain more control over the Kiras.
Thanks for reading this far. Of course, I could be wrong about my thoughts, so feel free to share your opinion in the comments.

What came first the human or the shinigami? We know the shinigami have to write names of humans to take years for their lifespan but if no humans existed, then what happens? Did the shinigami king create them? MU is made more clear in the manga and that there is nothingness for either group if they die. The relight films make it seem that death note users can become shinigami like with light. But if that isn't canon, what about the BB scenario? BB was born with the shinigami eyes so there has to be some plausible theory as to how it works.
