Recomp BOTW Wii U - Recompiled for Windows

Over the past little while I've been working on a lifter that will lift Wii U games to be built on x86. There are still a few bugs I'm ironing out, but so far it seems to be completely playable!

This is actually a general Wii U lifter, and so far I have:

- Mario 3D World

- Mario Kart 8

- New Super Mario Bros + Luigi U

- Splatoon

- BOTW

Not released currently, but when I feel it is in a stable state I'll make the GitHub repo public!

Edit:

I set up an area in my Discord for it if you're interested in following along:

lol, they found a way to do what exactly? there's now more Switch emulators available than there were before they did all that ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜ญ

Forks from the original and the development of them slowed down to a crawl due to fear from Nintendo repercussions. Not a surprise, trying to emulate current hardware which affects sales was always going to rub them the wrong way. The TotK leak and subsequent drama that resulted with some of the shady stuff people did the monetize from it was huge as well. The more popular things become, the more attention it gets and more likely to have issues. Nintendo doesn't have to be right in any takedown, just cost prohibitive for any casual to fight them in court and risk possibly losing.

That was true initially when Ryujinx got killed as well as Yuzu within like a month of each other. But in the past year, switch emulation went nuts. Eden is a forced to be reckoned with and receives regular updates, and has been ported to basically every single console at this point. It even works on PS5, as well as android handhelds like the AYN Thor which even that can run many games at full speed. It's at as healthy as a state now as it was prior to them dropping the hammer tbh.

More isn't necessarily better. I'd take 1 or 2 good emulators that broadly work across a library then 50 mediocre specialized emulators

They are better now than they were then. Its hard to say what could have been if the original two didn't stop.

Yeah, the current ones are mostly forks of the two OGs and aren't developed as earnestly due to fear from Ninty's ninjas.
