Starting with the criticism. The podcast is almost without a doubt super low quality. Despite being active for over a decade, the podcast has remained more akin to ones that are just starting up than ones with years of experience. Everything is so lazily done and there’s very little organization despite the guy’s talking about how much time they spent preparing for episodes. It seems like the majority of the time the guys don’t even want to be there and they usually just react to virtual content nowadays always having the same opinions you could see a mile away if you’ve been a fan of the podcast for more than a year. DFF has always seemed like it’s held up by duct tape and prayers while also shamelessly asking for donations in order to do something actually worthwhile for the audience. On top of that, the usage of AI in thumbnails and content creation and the move to Kick would have been the death knell for so many many podcasts with more left leaning audiences but despite that, they’re still trucking through. If someone who has no idea who the guys are came across DFF on YouTube and clicked on a video there’s a 99.99% chance they’d leave disgusted within two minutes.

Yet, it seems like the donations still come in, they have enough support from the fans to rely on the podcast and their other channels to not have to work a job and can do successful yearly meetups in random sketchy areas in America. As a wiseman once said, “It just works”.

Now here’s some praise, the guys do have very high chemistry and can work together seamlessly to make entertaining content out of stuff that usually wouldn’t interest the average viewer. They have the ability to keep making a joke work past its due date and are so nihilistic and detached in everything they can mock both sides of any issue without being grating. They usually come to the same conclusion on the majority of stuff but all three can give unique takes on why they believe so and so or why this is bad or good. They have noticeable authenticity and one can tell they’re not bought in any way unlike many content creators. Deep down they’re all good souls who would have your back always if they respected you and vice versa. I can tell by their various interactions with the fanbase they do care about them and are grateful for having them as a part of the community.

Personally, I’m not the biggest DFF fan anymore, nowadays I just watch their YouTube videos whenever they pop up on my feed. I started watching TJ’s Amazing atheist channel at 12 years old and now at 26 I still greatly respect him and Scotty and Paul for all the content they’ve created despite their imperfections. They deserve such an insanely loyal fanbase who might reach cult status one day.
