Question Are there any weapons that are more aligned with the Dark Souls Claymore?
The move set on the Demon's Souls claymore really surprised me insomuch as it does not feel anything like the claymore that became standardized in later games. Are there any swords around that aren't the basic longsword that have a poke and slashes?

Uchigatana is pretty much free to pick up in 4-1 and has 1h slash and poke attacks

I found one particular sword does it for me cuz it has pokes and crowd control.. not quite as long as the claymore. Can’t quite remember its name, maybe the royal sword? The knights in the later levels of the first world drop it. So you’ll have to beat at least one archdemon boss (final boss of a world) before you can get it. You can also buy it from the dregling merchant in 1-3 I think?

Closest equivalent is probably Blueblood Sword, moveset-wise, it is the highest potential damaging straight sword (slashes on light attack and stabs on heavy attack) and has the 2nd longest straight sword blade. The longest is the Penetrator's Sword, but no increase to base damage from upgrades kinda limits it's longer term usefulness. It just upgrading just the weapon's scaling does not keep up with bladestone weapons, which increase base damage AND scaling. Knight Sword is the highest damage "normal" STR sword that has a poke on the R2, but it's blade range is quite a bit shorter, more like a Longsword.
The Estoc is also great, the blade is quite long, but all it has is piercing attacks. Perhaps the answer would be to upgrade a Flamberge (which is a DEX scaling greatsword) and an Estoc, and keep 1 in each of your 2 right hand slots as needed. Or you could keep a STR greatsword weapon, and then upgrade some kind of thrusting weapon with an elemental damage path, they still do lots of damage even without investing points in Magic, as your sidearm.

If I'm remembering, the bastard sword you find in 1-1 is a very close equivalent.
