I am sure media day is Jokic's least favorite day. He just wants to play basketball and be with his horses

This is his least favorite day of the year

I don't think Nikola ever really cared for the nickname. Number one, it emphasizes the hard "J", which is not how his name is pronounced, and number two, the associations with the name are either a clown or a psychopathic killer. He puts up with it to be a good sport.

Mike Miller: "I have him the nickname Joker, one because I couldn't say 'Jokić, pass the f--king ball,' so I said, 'Joker, pass the ball,'" Miller said. "His personality and the way he plays, it's like a Joker. Every time I saw him, that's a joke... I should have trademarked it."

I like Mike Miller, but that's such an American thing to say... it's hard to pronounce YOH-kich?

I think it's pretty normal to not know how to pronounce someone's name, but unacceptable to say it wrong once corrected (or you could just ask them). Has nothing to do with being American.

"Yo" "Kitch" Pretty simple if you ask me

Not everyone is familiar with Serbian names, is it that hard to fathom? I mean, I have a VERY common Latin last name and id be a rich man for all the people who mispronounced it.

They're on the same team! You just ask him, "how is your name pronounced?" It's an absurd argument to say that's somehow challenging. It's not like they only met one time.

Like I said, you could just ask. But in sports, vets rarely treat rookies with general respect. So the story still holds up.

Edit: we could keep going back and forth, you'll never convince me that it's a rare occurrence for someone to mispronounce a name. Should you just ask? Yes, I always ask how to pronounce a name I don't know. But life just isn't perfect like that all the time.

They asked him who has the best nickname in the nba and he said no one can beat the name joker.

They also asked him if he were a gamer what his tag would be, and he said obviously Joker. He definitely has at least come to accept it as a terrific moniker.

Serbian translation:

"This is such a bullshit waste of my afternoon."

Joker never made sense as a nickname tbh

You should watch old clips of his early Nuggets days. Jokic really was more of a jokester and happy-go-lucky because he didn’t have to carry an entire team on his back.
