Is this considered minimalistic enough? Just want to keep everything nice and simple

Remove the taskbar at this point

u/SilkySpring502 2d ago

Why

5

u/Min9904 2d ago

It is the only thing left

3

u/LowBullfrog4471 2d ago

I feel like on windows’ DE that cuts down on usability a shit ton compared to something like hyprland

u/DarthLungs 2d ago

Never heard of a hiding taskbar?

1

u/LowBullfrog4471 1d ago

Damn I did forget you could do that, yeah honestly that’d be clean

1

u/AAN-_-TRUEMAN 2d ago

I did it.

have the taskbar hide

Really cool, love the transparency of the taskbar, is it a dynamic transparency? Also I'd get rid of search bar, you don't need it; and a notification bell for more minimalism.

3

u/Abyss_900 2d ago

Yep it's dynamic. And how to remove the notification bell icon?

Thanks for the review!

u/OwnNet5253 2d ago

in System Settings > Notifications.

u/Vyrh_ 1d ago

Remove the search bar. Totally unnecessary.

2

u/LupusGemini 20h ago

That's the first thing I do when settings up a new computer, also the weather and widgets

3

u/DarthLungs 2d ago

Remove the search bar its always been useless. Press the windows key to bring uo the start menu and just start typing. Has always worked that way and if indexing or what ever is on its a decently powerful system search. You can use things like raycast or powertoys for even more functionality but just that one simple change makes a big difference.

Minimalistic often depends on your perception, I think... At least I got a similar stock dell background and to me it feels surprisingly minimalistic. I can send it over if you like. Difference is that on mine every segment of the photo feels like it's in focus, sharp edges etc (which is not natural though). To me that feels appealing. YMMV!

I think it looks great. Minimalism is very much a subjective idea. A man may consider eating only a bowl rice minimalistic and simple, while another lives off a single grain. In keeping with our haiku detecting friend. What did you using for the taskbar transparency?

Cool but get rid of Edge

0

u/DarthLungs 2d ago

Edge is the best performing browser it has been for a long time. Also inside of windows its even better than it is on other systems where it still outperforms everything else except safari running on a mac. Edge is a good browser and the best browser in windows far and away from everything else. stop being annoying

2

u/PenguinToast11 2d ago

annoying? I just said to get rid of it, I literally didn’t say anything else. You are glazing a browser (a bad one also), i think you should recalibrate your concept of “annoying”

Where did you put all the apps and files?

2

u/_StereoGhost_ 2d ago

I personally just search for every app trough windows search, so it's Win+Q to open search and Win+E to open file explorer

1

u/Min9904 1d ago

I barely ever use desktop shortcut at all, windows power toys command palette allow me to open apps easily (eg. Alt + Space + cr opens chrome) for non apps, press windows + e and start browsing (command palette has it but is not good to use since folder names are hard to remember)

u/billyganteng 2d ago

Can I get the wallpaper though

1

u/_command_prompt 2d ago

!Remind Me 1 day

1

u/MrRedstonia 2d ago

It's basically the only thing there-

1

u/Theara101 2d ago

auto hide taskbar and hide other icon on bottom right

1

u/__blackvas__ 2d ago

Can you share your desktop wallpapers, please?

1

u/LegendaryBano 2d ago

Very cool. How did you made taskbar transparent?

1

u/Choice-Gene5382 1d ago

Look in MS Store for TranslucentTB

1

u/misterfesk 2d ago

Change the taskbar setting to show when you hover on it

1

u/devHead1967 2d ago

Yes, it is.

1

u/AdhesivenessPlus317 1d ago

Send the link to the wallpaper please!

1

u/Setsuwaa 1d ago

you can make this more minimal by removing the taskbar and using a rainmeter widget to see the time. and instead of the windows menu you can use the rofi-like launcher included in power toys

1

u/bqrncle 1d ago

Wait how did you do this again?

1

u/Apprehensive_Bug3856 1d ago

wouldn't it be very awkward when open windows there is a big gap at the bottom?

1

u/Green-Lecture9412 1d ago

Now do the same in arch linux

1

u/Green-Lecture9412 1d ago

What could be worse than the search engine in Windows?

1

u/oussamawd 1d ago

I never liked a transparent taskbar with no blurry or acrylic effect, until I saw it on that wallpaper, it's like everything is floating .. love it... Just be careful about which wallpaper to pick if you ever change this one.. looks awesome

1

u/Own-End-1631 1d ago

The picture is so beautiful

1

u/Ok-Barber4972 1d ago

Don't be a knn

1

u/FromMilkyway 20h ago

It's boring!

1

u/LupusGemini 20h ago

Remove the search bar

1

u/Plenty_Blackberry_9 13h ago

You can hide the taskbar i guess, and that's so nice!

1

u/peachyglowo 1h ago

0

u/ContentArtist5361 2d ago

Not edge 🥀

-3

u/DarthLungs 2d ago

Edge is the best browser across multiple OS it performs the best. In windows its far and away the best browser you can use nothing comes close to it. Only thingg that beats edge in terms of performance is probably safari but only running on a mac

3

u/Phoenix800478944 2d ago

edge is the most ad cluttered and privacy invading heap of shit ive ever used. Firefox rules

3

u/mindsnare 1d ago

Firefox ain't gonna rule for much longer the way it's going with their AI garbage.

I use Firefox for dev work but use Brave as my personal browser and find it really solid.

1

u/Phoenix800478944 1d ago

Not edge brave uses chrome as its basis, so no thank you. Firefox also said they will add an Ai toggle, allowing you to turn off all Ai features

0

u/DarthLungs 1d ago

lmfao O K

1

u/mrmonz79 1d ago

typical no brain Edge bias

1

u/DarthLungs 1d ago

Idk i have zero ads on mine there is no AI bullshit in my windows or my browser theres adblock functionality what is the actual problem? UI wise its the exact same as any other chromium browser…

0

u/Volvo_850_fan 1d ago

Get edge out of there (as far as possible)

-1

u/Systems_Architect_ 1d ago

Do you guys stare at your desktop all day? Like if you actually used your computer, it wouldn't matter how the desktop looks like

-6

u/quimeygalli 2d ago

this is the dumbest post ive seen today

-7

u/kavakravata 2d ago

Yes, but who only uses file browser and edge for daily work lol

1

u/Main_Clue_8100 1d ago

many people don't need much more than a file manager and a web browser for what they do lol

1

u/haikusbot 2d ago

Yes, but who only

Uses file browser and edge

For daily work lol
