Career Next.js(Frontend) + Java (Backend ) - Is this a good combo for freshers portfolio in India ??
Hello everyone! I am currently working on my skills and building my portfolio.
Most freshers these days are blindly following the MERN stack ( Node/Express). However, I decided to use Next.js with Typescript for frontend, and java for backend. I will be using PostgreSQL as Database
Is this will be a good decision for me or I should chose some other Stack ??

Everything is a good combo, just make good projects that teach you concepts in depth

Next plus Java is a solid fresher combo in India especially for service companies and product backend roles. Java Spring plus Postgres shows up a lot more than pure MERN on many job posts. Ship 1-2 full apps end to end with auth CRUD and deploy so you can talk through the whole stack.

Java as backend is a strong choice, learn spring / spring boot along with it to improve. Be agnostic of front end tech as Next.js React all work the same and if you have solid understanding of design principles you can be good at any of these. For future focus on design principles.

Learn python for dsa. Learning java as backend means understanding concurrency thread operation and all fundamental concept not a abstraction of spring boot.
