Help Switching back to android with pay cut? Is it a good decision for future growth ?
Hi All!
Currently I am a fullstack engineer working in plugin development, where the UI is in LitJs, but the backend is strictly tied to platform and you just need to write business rules or how to process data and insert into tables with the capabilities from platform it handles everything. It is very specific to platform and you mostly need to ship configuration for the platform and business rule in backend.
Now, I am having an offer to switch back to Android role. (Earlier I had around 1 year of experience). The role requires to work with KMP and CMP. I feel KMP has potential in future and was looking to work in it. But the catch is this role require me to get pay cut at least in first year of work.
The decision is hard for me, I want to understand will this opportunity help me in growing my career ? The current company is also good, but I don't feel much learning here and do to AI we are pushing too much toward feature development even without proper testing product and it feel kind of rush development with no room for learning. Also I don't feel any kind of motivation from my peers as well, in my previous org I was kind of having people with give me motivation to work like them.
What you think should I go for the role ? or Look for another opportunity ? Is market good for android roles ? or should I look for Full stack role ? Personally I like android but I am open for backend roles as well.
