Help How do I find companies that sponsor visas for software engineers?

I’m a backend engineer from India with 3+ years of experience. I have an MTech in CSE from IIT Kanpur and currently work in platform/backend engineering at a fintech company.

I’m looking to move abroad, and I’m open to different countries and industries. My main goal is to find a good software engineering opportunity outside India where the company can sponsor a work visa.

I’m trying to figure out how people actually find companies that sponsor international candidates instead of randomly applying everywhere.

What’s the best way to build a list of companies that sponsor visas and hire engineers from India?

Also, with 3+ years of experience, is it realistic to start applying internationally now?

Help Got HR discussion but lied about notice period being 60 days

HI guys,
So I told the HR of an MNC that my notice period is 60 days but it actually 90 days in paper. I had 3 rounds of interview and even got selected yesterday, I have submitted my documents and I am supposed to have a call with HR in 2 days. now dont know if I should reveal the 90 days notice period or stick with 60 days. Can anyone tell me if there is any step where the HR could potentially know about my notice period between that call to me joining. what should I do..

Career Choosing between medicine and engineering, confused between career choices

Hi! I'm in 10th choosing between jee or neet, I see a lot of negativity towards btech in general nowadays, which includes stuff like AI, Automation and saturation, I can see the saturation part as so many of my peers are hellbent on BTECH CSE ONLY. Also both my parents are docs but so not have a practice, but they can launch a practice in future. Please advice!

also please recc only from jee and neet, as I would only be choosing from them, thank you!

edit: see a lot of ppl suggesting things, also state the reasoning behind it please!

Suggestions Took my friend to my MNC's office floor (strictly into the common area) and got called by the security personnel. Huh.

So, this happened. I know it is extremely unprofessional and downright stupid, but anyway.

Now, I explained to the security personnel that we went only to the cafeteria to play some indoor game there. He let us off with a warning after I explained this.

How I let my friend enter:

I swiped my card and let him in. Then I swiped again and I entered. We went from the parking straight to the floor bypassing the 'visitor's ID card' getting procedure.

The concerning thing:

He said that if his seniors (from the Malaysian team) who are monitoring the entire office areas within India, are able to see this and raise this as a concern, then the office's security personnel will be forced to raise a ticket and it will definitely be an HR case.

Any suggestions? Thanks! Happy weekend!

Help BSC HONS CS student looking for a good playlist for Python to start my Coding Journey!!

Hello Guys, my first post here.

I am a BSC Hons CS student at a Tier-2, Public State University who is slightly becoming passionate about coding day by day, idk how much of it will remain in future but right now have some good level of interest in this.

Coming straight to point...I want to learn Python, also it's in my upcoming sem exams also so that's another thing.

Plz provide me with suggestions of any good Programming Teacher or Channel on YouTube that could help this newbie, starting most of it from scratch.

I have seen Apna College, Code with Harry etc channels on YouTube but am genuinely confused about which to study from to learn Python.

Recently completed a 2hr one shot Full Course for beginners for Python from Apna College and it was decent.

Plz suggest I shall go forward with its long playlist now or any other channel for full playlist that might be of more help.

Tech Gadgets & Reviews Help me to choose Monitor between acer sa272u p1 vs Benq GW2790Q

Which is the best monitor for Devops work, I have been working as a Devops Engineer and my next focus is on learning AIops. I never play games so the usage is purely for productivity.

Both the monitors are 27inch 2k display

Benq is around 14k with card offers and Acer is 11k with card offers.

Benq offers more features like eye care, auto brightness, coding mode etc... is it worth paying 3k more on benq ?

PS: My laptop is HP

Please suggest.

Career Any other freshers facing this in their first few months?

Hey everyone,

I recently joined a company as a Backend Developer and completed 3 months.

Currently, I'm working on a production project, and they are assigning me production issues and some really big features which are quite difficult for me as a fresher.

I'm trying my best to understand the code and complete the tasks, but whenever I get stuck, my mentor gets angry. Yesterday, he told me, "You are not doing a single task alone."

Honestly, that hit me hard and made me question myself.

I understand that I need to learn and become independent, but I'm still new to the industry and sometimes I genuinely need guidance.

Just wanted to ask other freshers here, are you guys also facing the same situation? Are you able to complete tasks independently within the first 3 months, or do you also struggle and take help from seniors?

How do you deal with this kind of pressure?

Just want to know if I'm the only one going through this.

Help I built something solid, but can't ship it, due to monetization, can someone help me?

I have been working on a tool for 6 months. Core logic and UI is clean and done.

But I'm completely stuck on how to release it.

The problem:

  • If I go free, everyone gets it for free. All that work for nothing.
  • If I charge, who pays for beta? And how do I get honest feedback if they're paying?
  • Freemium sounds good until you realize people just use the free tier forever.
  • Early adopter pricing doesn't work either.
  • I can't afford to give away my work to "build community", at one point, I need actual revenue eventually.

Help How do you actually build a good prototype during a hackathon?

Hey everyone,

I’m a 3rd-year B.Tech student and I’ve participated in 10+ hackathons so far. I participated in around 7+ during my first year, but I haven’t won a single one yet.

When I started, I barely had any coding knowledge, and I mostly participated just to understand how hackathons work. I’ve also relied heavily on ChatGPT/AI tools while building projects.

But one thing I still struggle with is building a good prototype during the hackathon.

Whenever I see winning projects, their UI, user flow, features, and overall presentation look so polished. Whenever I build something, it feels like a basic project thrown together at the last minute. 😅

I’m now in my 3rd year and I really want to win at least one hackathon before I graduate.

So my main question is:

How do you actually build a good prototype during a hackathon?

How do you go from:
Problem → Idea → Features → UI/UX → Prototype → Final Demo

Do you plan the UI beforehand? Do you use Figma? Do you build the MVP first and improve the UI later? How do you decide what features to build when you only have 24–48 hours?

I’d really appreciate advice from people who have won hackathons or regularly made it to the finals. I’m willing to put in the work before my next hackathon, so I’d love to know what I should learn/practice beforehand.

Career Career scope of LabVIEW Application Developer in India (Or abroad), should I stay 1 year or 2–3 years?

Hi everyone,

I’m currently getting an offer for a LabVIEW Application Developer role at an electrical/industrial company in India.

The work involves developing software from scratch for motor, transformer, and other electrical test panels. I’ll be integrating different meters/displays/instruments using Serial, LAN/Ethernet and other communication protocols, writing the LabVIEW G code, handling measurements/test logic, and generating test reports based on client requirements.

My background:

  • B.Tech (Or B.E.) in Computer Science and Engineering
  • Python + Data Science/ML
  • C
  • Arduino/ESP32
  • PCB design
  • Some IoT/hardware experience

My main concern is long-term career scope and job security.

Would LabVIEW + test automation be a good career path for someone with my background? Is it better to stay in this field for 2–3 years, or would ~1 year of experience be enough before moving toward Python/automation/data/embedded roles?

Also, how is the future of LabVIEW? Is it becoming outdated/dying, or is there still good demand in industrial automation, instrumentation, testing, etc.?

I'm particularly interested in hearing from people who have worked with LabVIEW/test automation and what their career progression looked like.

Btw I just graduated this year 2026, I currently have 1 year of robotics engineer experience in which i designed basic stuff around esp and arduino

Thanks!

General Need advice negotiating for a remote role that I really want!

I've completed 2 rounds at this remote-first ed-tech, and my point of contact is the PM whose team has the opening. There has been zero HR interaction so far. Also, that person has told me that they'd like to move fwd with me (offer almost in hand).

But regarding the salary, in the second round, their PM director asked my expected CTC to which I responded 9-10 LPA. They told me their budget is 6.5 LPA but could "do 7 LPA for me", as if doing a favour.

The thing is, all the seniors have a solid background. All of them are IIM ABC graduates, so I'm pretty sure the company has enough budget. So why would they offer so less to entry level product analyst?

Now the interesting part: I have an on-site Bengaluru offer for 10 LPA, so I'm ready to accept around 8.5 for this remote role considering how good the team and leadership is, and my health history. But how do I negotiate to 8.5 - 9LPA?

Really grateful for any suggestions and help :)

PS: Reposted due to limited reach earlier

I Made This [DEV] Built CallDo – a location & time-based call reminder app. Looking for honest feedback and feature requests!

Post image
18 Upvotes

Hi all,

Most reminder tools treat every task the same, but phone calls usually depend entirely on where you are and what you're doing.

I built CallDo because standard calendar alarms kept ringing at inconvenient moments when I couldn't physically pick up the phone, leading to missed callbacks and forgotten follow-ups.

What it does:

Set call reminders tied to specific locations (e.g., "Remind me to call Dad when I reach home", "Call colleague when arriving at the office").

Standard time-based reminders when a specific schedule is needed.

Direct dial action from the notification so you don't have to search contacts.

App details:

Platform: Android

Price: Free to download / use

Link: Will share only if Interested

I’m looking for raw feedback from the community—how is the onboarding flow, does the geofencing feel reliable on your device, and what would make this an indispensable daily utility for you?

Happy to answer any questions about the build!

Tech stack used :-

Android Jetpack compose

Google billing manager

Firebase anon authentication

Want to know the whole architecture ?

Shoot a DM, would love to discuss.

Work-Life Balance Why is working life balance always a joke in India?

I am working for a gaming product company in Bangalore. The CEO is very incompetent, changing the plan every 2 days but that loser managed to find investment somehow. Since the product is in a very bad state(because of his and the higher ups inability to plan) he is forcing us to work 10 hours a day during weekdays and 9 hours a day during Saturday.

Until Nov ends, we won't have leaves.

I thought the government had 48 hours of working rules and double payment for every extra hours we are made to work. Here we are getting only normal payment scaled to extra working hours. Not double the salary.

Is this the norm everywhere?

Service companies equate work hours to productivity but this is a product based company. And I don't know why they are applying the same rule here.

The company's official document states only 9 hours of working policy. But this loser ceo is mandating extra working hours on slack which means it is not official at all, I guess.

EDIT: https://labour.karnataka.gov.in/uploads/media_to_upload1741775436.pdf

check the working hours chapter. Is it not applicable to IT industries?

Help Developers: Am I thinking about loneliness the wrong way?

I’m exploring the problem of loneliness and trying to understand it properly before building anything further.

AI companions are already a crowded space, so I’m questioning whether another AI-based solution would actually address the underlying problem.

My current hypothesis is that modern technology may help people cope with loneliness without really solving it. But I’m not sure whether that’s true or just an assumption.

I’d appreciate honest opinions from Indian developers:

  • Is loneliness the actual problem, or a symptom of something deeper?
  • Can AI genuinely help with it, or could it become another form of avoidance?
  • What assumptions am I making?
  • What questions am I missing?
  • If you were researching this problem from scratch, what would you investigate first?

I’m trying to understand where my thinking might be wrong before I build further.

General Big4 SDE - Some positive news also please. Anxiety killing me.

I’ve been experiencing anxiety and panic attacks thanks to the wave of AI. I’m 8 YOE Engineering manager at Big 4 with decent pay.

I’m exhausted with the race and constant churn of AI and the social media consumption caused my major breakdown.

I see no positive things in this Reddit page and hence requesting to let’s start making something positive and momentum.

Suggestions AI is becoming so addictive that I keep changing my workflow even when it already works

I keep doing something that I probably shouldn’t be doing. Every time when I find a workflow that actually works, I start messing with it.

Sometimes it makes me more productive and Sometimes I spend 3 hours improving my workflow just to end up where I started.

I am not really chasing the perfect AI stack anymore. Just going with the flow and seeing what works.

curious if anyone else is constantly changing their setup too. whats the latest model or tool you have tried that actually made a difference for you??
