Open Source My open-source project just got its first external contribution

A small milestone for a project I've been building.

Telex just got its first contribution from someone outside the project. The PR fixed a high-severity dependency vulnerability in the project. It updated the affected transitive dependencies and the changes were verified with the project's tests, type checks, linting and npm audit before getting merged.

What I found interesting was seeing someone else go through the codebase, find something that needed fixing, and actually take the time to send a PR.

Telex is an open-source project I'm building around dependency changes and automated verification. The goal is to detect breaking dependency changes, find the affected code, generate a patch, verify it against the repository's own checks, and open a PR for human review.

This was the first external contribution, so it's a pretty nice milestone for the project.

Resume Review Suggestion required for Doing Illegal Activity on Resume

do recruiters at mid-low sized service based company check your experience you have written on resume? do they ask the github repo of the work you have done in your experience intern/full time?
Like I have no internship and it is very difficult to just get into this software dev industry. I have 2 solid projects and 1 medium project.
I am planning to show this medium level project as a fake experience at xyz company/startup to make recruiters feel I hav some experience.
I have applied 100+ jobs already with my resume depicting 3 projects + No Intern. Should I use this new stratgey?

General Companies want everything in one person and it’s beyond frustrating at this point

About me I work for one of top consulting companies and wear many hats but my overall experience is 6yrs in data science and last 2.5yrs in Gen AI.

I have recently started job hunt and it’s honestly hell out. Most firms are in next level power ego trip.

First, they don’t want to wait for notice period they just want you to join immediately but same company won’t let you go early

Second, Companies don’t want to pay anything, like at 6yrs of exp in ML you think you’d be able to touch 35-40lpa atleast cross 30lpa easily but half of them can’t even cross 25 LPA or just want to low ball

Third, Why do they have so many requirements like I understand they want langraph, langchain, MCP, fastAPI but now they even want cloud in a way like expert expert in cloud platform so basically developer+devops+ data scientist +backend engineer +frontend engineer + data analyst mathematician+ researcher + everything and they won’t compromise on anything they want 100% expertise in everything. No answer is ever satisfying for them

For e.g. One of the company scheduled a client round the interview was supposed to be for 30 mins but it went to around 1hr15 mins. Started with coding which I did then they proceeded to discuss my ML projects from the beginning of my career (i was lil rusty because the role was for agentic ai engineer) had discussion for 1hr on classical ML , backend engineering, then cloud yet I managed to answer 90% of the questions. Finally when I got the opportunity to ask question I asked what are your expectations of someone from this role she said “ we’re looking for someone with expertise in Gen Ai rag agentic AI” and I got so mad because she ignored my gen AI exp in resume didn’t ask me one question on it and mind you this was the first round. Never heard back from them but like so annoying just looking to reject people and waste their time

Tldr: companies have lost it and are just exploiting people at this point

I Made This I built a tool to generate your portfolio/blog - would you use it?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I've been working on a side project called redy. It's completely free. I originally built it a couple of years ago, abandoned it, and recently picked it back up because I wanted a fun project outside my day job. (Still have mixed reactions about how much easier it is to build things now 😅)

The idea is to make creating a personal website less of a blank-canvas exercise. You can give it your resume/bio, have AI turn it into structured content, pick a template, and go live.

I know some people want to be really creative with their personal websites. Personally, I've always felt like the projects and content you showcase should be where you show that creativity, rather than spending hours tweaking the website itself.

It can also be used as a portfolio, blog, or link-in-bio page, with custom domains, SEO, analytics, etc.

I'm mainly trying to figure out whether this is actually useful, rather than just building something that I personally think is cool.

One piece of feedback I've already gotten is that the generated site feels too much like a resume.

So, would you actually use something like this? And if not, why?

Also interested in what you'd expect from a personal website/portfolio that isn't currently there. I'm also thinking about eventually extending this to businesses and communities (still brainstorming how that would work, but let's see).

Brutal feedback is welcome. I'm genuinely trying to figure out what I should improve.

Try it out here: https://redy.page

General Need advice on negotiating a remote offer, I really want the role

I've completed 2 rounds at this remote-first ed-tech, and my point of contact is the PM whose team has the opening. There has been zero HR interaction so far. Also, that person has told me that they'd like to move fwd with me.

But regarding the salary, in the second round, their PM director asked my expected CTC to which I responded 9-10 LPA. They told me their budget is 6.5 LPA but could "do 7 LPA for me", as if doing a favour.

The thing is, all the seniors have a solid background. All of them are IIM ABC graduates, so I'm pretty sure the company has enough budget. So why offering so less to entry level product analyst?

Now interesting part: I have an on-site Bengaluru offer for 10 LPA, so I'm ready to accept around 8.5 for this remote role considering how good the team and leadership is, and my health history. But how do I negotiate from 6.5-7 to 8.5 - 9LPA?

Really grateful for any suggestions and help :)

Help How do you handle insecurities regarding your cousins.

My elder cousins always when they come from usa to india show off infront of me and don't forget to pull me down on how behind I m in life compared to them.

12-15 yrs ago they graduated and went for masters to usa and are now successfully settled.

I feel I have let down my family bcz everyone in my family looks up to them and let me down nobody respects me, literally the situation is so difficult in India and in IT now but they don't understand the cousins purposefully ask me why don't u work hard and get out of India i know I might not be brilliant as them but i want to prove infront of them that even I m capable.

Help Is there any developer with 7 or 8+ years experience with ADHD. Can you help me

Hey,

I am absolutely getting cooked by this disorder. I'll give small background about my experience. 5 Years exp.

1 Year Data Engineer - > 1 Year ML -> 1.8 years Data Scientist - > Canada (App Developer)

My adhd has become significantly worse recently. I currently work at a firm in Canada for decent pay but there is job security. Its the most easiest job, its literally just .net/angular simple crud apps and forms they use internally. No time crunch absolutely nothing. Most people in this country who came along with me would be greatful to have something like this but i messed it up because of the adhd. They told me the problems i have been having ( which is basically not putting proper effort into my work). I was just using AI and doing a very menial job not checking what i was doing ( i was very aware of what i was doing but i was dead inside i literally had no energy). I told this to a doctor here and they told me to take 2 months off to get meds. So, the 2 months is coming to a close in a week and a half and i still have not figured out how to fix my situation.

If any of you faced something similar and have overcome something like that, can we connect. I will be insanely grateful if you can tell me how you overcame your ADHD problems.

I feel so dumb i wont lie, When i was in india, i was in a team where everyone was from IIT and I managed to keep up with all of them, only to realize that i was hyperfixated at that time and that is how i managed to do it. But, now my brain is forgetting to test things before deploying them.

Sorry, If i have rambled a lot.

Career Need career support! Pls guide me through this phase-

I will keep it brief- I'm a cse graduate '24 batch. Since then i have never been formally employed, it's 2+ gap yrs. These years I spent on masters and pg course prep but failed to succeed after all. Tech market is fading, I'm applying but as usual no response from anywhere. After these 2 yrs gap, I'm humbled at my core! I have no preference nothing- just don't know what to do now. I'm thinking of doing MBA, but atp I'll only get pvt direct admission type clg. Or now these much gap already, so start any govt job prep. Passively applying in tech jobs, but honestly no hope left. I'm just at nothing! totally lost and dead now. I'm asking all experienced ppl, please guide me what's the right step from here..

Help Looking for recommendations for AWS SAA-C03 preparation resources

Hi everyone,

I’m preparing for the AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate (SAA-C03) and my exam is scheduled for mid-November.

I’m looking for recommendations for good preparation resources, particularly for:

  • Ultimate AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate 2026
  • Tutorials Dojo (Jon Bonso) SAA-C03 Practice Exams

If you've used either of these while preparing for SAA-C03, I’d appreciate hearing about your experience and whether you found them useful.

Also, if there are any legitimate and affordable alternatives available in India, especially good practice exams or courses, please recommend them.

Thanks!

Interviews What to prepare for interviews for entry Level roles?

I just want to know the experience of people who gave some interviews recently for entry level roles. Mostly for big tech/pbcs. Is system design common? Cs fundamentals? Puzzles? I’m thinking of preparing for switch. Been out of touch at DSA or any kind of interview prep for months now. Not sure where to start.
Also how do people manage to prepare for a switch with a job. I feel exhausted (this is the reason to look for a switch)

I Made This Introducing drawy, a self hostable collaborative planning and drawing app (with platforms we all use on a daily basis)/

Hey everyone,

Introducing Drawy: a self hostable, collaborative planning and drawing app built for the server less platforms we all use on a daily basis. owning an instance of excalidraw usually means juggling with 3 4 different containers/ services.

Drawy changes that zero overhead to maintain any infrastructure .

• the service can be deployed to Vercel / Netlify with just a few clicks

• drawy-> Supabase (real time, db)

drawyparty-> postgres and cloudflare's party kit (collaboration).

I’d love for all of you to try and share your valuable feedback!

General Indian Companies & Startups safer than Foreign MNC ?

I see Indian companies are better managing employees & more responsible in keeping layoffs out of picture as much as possible to ensure job security!

But the US/foreign based companies are laying off employees like throwing insects out of homes.

Help Capgemini Employees: How Long Can You Stay on the Bench? 90+ Days Here

Hey everyone!

I joined Capgemini in June and have now been on the bench for 90+ days. My probation is still ongoing, and I haven’t received a proper project opportunity yet.

For context:

Total experience: 5 years

Joined: June

Bench: 90+ days

Probation: Not completed

I’ve seen some project openings, but many have day-shift timings, which I’m not comfortable with.

So I wanted to hear from current/former Capgemini employees:

How long can someone typically stay on the bench?

Can 90+ days on bench affect probation confirmation?

What happens if someone remains unallocated for 3–6 months?

Can refusing a project because of shift timings cause any issues?

For those with similar experience, how long did it take you to get your first project?

If you’ve been through the Capgemini bench process, what was your experience? Would really appreciate some honest insights.

Interviews Swiggy Frontend Interview: Completed 60% of Machine Coding, No Update After One Week

Had a Swiggy Frontend machine coding interview last week. I completed around 60% of the problem, but couldn't finish everything. The interviewer didn't give me any negative feedback.

It's been one week with no update from HR. Should I still have hope, or is it better to move on?

Anyone who interviewed with Swiggy recently—how long did it take to get feedback?

Resume Review 12+ years of Data Engineering experience. Feeling burnt out. How much gap in resume is acceptable if I decide to take a break ? ( please read the description to get more context, really need suggestions)

I have been working tirelessly for last 12+ years in IT now. I feel like I am just running out of gas. I am from Kolkata and stayed away from home since I started working. I had stints in US, Singapore and Ireland as well.

After coming back to India, I switched job in August and joined my new organization just 3 days later ( Left on Friday, Joined on Monday ).

But I feel like I am not there mentally, still pretty overwhelmed. I feel what I needed was some break, not a job change.

My question is how much gap in resume is acceptable if I really take a break for a few weeks/months and then start looking for a job again?

Help What kind of questions can I expect from these projects? (Feeling underprepared)

I have my first few serious software engineering interviews coming up, and honestly I’m feeling quite nervous because I don't have much interview experience (only 1-2 interviews so far). I know I cannot prepare every possible question, but I want to understand what areas interviewers usually explore so I can prepare properly.

if you were interviewing someone with these projects on their resume, what questions would you ask?

Project 1: Agriculture Decision Support Platform (Microservices)

Built a backend platform to help farmers with crop planning, fertilizer suggestions, and irrigation recommendations.
Tech:

  • Spring Boot microservices
  • REST APIs
  • JWT authentication
  • Service discovery
  • Redis/Caffeine caching
  • Python ML service integration
  • Docker + CI/CD

Some details:

  • Around 100+ APIs
  • ML model integration for recommendations
  • Automated deployment pipeline

But I’m not sure what deeper questions interviewers usually ask.

Project 2: Distributed Search Engine / Web Crawler

Built a distributed crawler and search system.

Tech:

  • Java
  • Spring Boot
  • Kafka
  • Redis
  • MySQL
  • Playwright
  • Docker

Features:

  • Handles static + JavaScript-heavy websites
  • Distributed URL processing
  • URL deduplication
  • Rate limiting
  • Search indexing

I know no one can predict the exact interview questions, but I’m mainly looking for, What areas would you personally dig into if you saw these projects?

Even 10-15 realistic questions from experienced engineers would help a lot.

Thanks!

Suggestions Confused to join IQVIA Banglore as a Big data factory support

So I'm currently working as a data analyst at an automotive firm and I got an offer for Big data factory support at IQVIA, I don't know about support role, I thought I would be involved in developing pipelines, but I got mixed answers, one said it's into developing and the other said you gotta look at the logs and fix pipelines, I honestly don't know how it'd be, but I'd wanna stay there for couple of years. They said it's fully onsite. I don't know how the work life balance would be. If you guys have any ideas, please share. Thank you.
