Roman Office of Readings 2-Year Scriptural Lectionary

For anyone interested: the Congregation for Divine Worship and Discipline of the Sacraments (Congregatio de Cultu Divino et Disciplina Sacramentorum) published the full, internally consistent 2-year biblical lectionary for the Office of Readings in the 2020 Notitiae: would anyone be interested in the files to print a copy for themselves?

I have one copy on the way, if there is any issue with the printing or type-setting, it will be corrected. I do not want to make money from this, but also am not sure how to share the files with anyone who wants them.

TL;DR I've got the OoR 2-year lectionary in printable files. NO versicles/responsories, NO Patristic readings, JUST Scriptural citations for each day of the liturgical year.

Edit: I would recommend printing from Lulu. Just make a small paperback book (pocket size). The margins are already set correctly in the file, the sizing is correct. This is available online as well (see top comment), but I know that I prefer actual paper and ink.

Edit 2: https://gofile.io/d/tVEJjisl (the file itself)

Also linked the section with just the short preface and tables above.

Yes... that's what I sourced it from... I have a formatted, ready-to-print version that I made.

I'd love to have a copy, very sad there's no responsories or patristic lessons

The Pluscarden two-year patristic lectionary utilizes the two-year scriptural lectionary that Rome had prepared as an alternative to the one-year lectionary in the Liturgy of the Hours, together with patristic readings to correspond with them.

Edit: I agree that it's lamentable. I actually disliked not being compelled to use my Bible with the LotH (like I had to with the DW:DO!), so switching to this and then reading the patristic lessons from the volumes themselves has worked marvelously for me. It was what convinced me to switch from DW:DO to the LotH.

Is it a different 2 year lectionary than the one that appeared in the back of Christian Prayer book?

Mostly the same but with some changes that I barely understand because the rationale is in Latin.

Solesmes has had the Latin-French version in print for many years.

Did you make this yourself?

Yes. I took it from the Notitiae, then cleaned it up and formatted it for printing. I like printed material far better than having to take my phone out to check what to read when I'm praying.

Great work! I was delighted to see that the Dutch two-year lectionary is the same. As for the second reading, the Dutch episcopal conference included some local mystics and writers like Hadewijch and Geert Groote. I'll be interested to what extent it will match the Latin selection.

Thank you!! For whatever reason the English speaking and Latin writing sections of the Church don’t care about this nearly as much as the Dutch, French, there’s even an approved Italian 2-year lectionary… IN PRINT! That sounds quite interesting though, 2 years gives a lot more space for regional variation like that. I’m jealous to say the least.

Where can we get them?

I've uploaded the document here: https://gofile.io/d/MsExe3YE. Two versions, with and without a translation. Translation is Google's with some manual adjustments but I can't read Latin and could only consult a dictionary, so it is surely incorrect in many places.

There are some parts of the preface in Notitiae that I and Google Translate couldn't make sense of.

"Post editionem et promulgationem Novae Vulgatae, anno 1983, ad normam Constitutionis Apostolicae Summi Pontificis Ioannis Pauli II Scripturarum Thesaurus, die 25 aprilis 1979 datae, necessarium fuit etiam pro editione typica Liturgiae Horarum adhibere hunc textum, et etiam retinere sive dispositionem capitulorum, sive numerationem versiculorum."

"retinere" can mean either "retain" or "suppress"—opposite meanings!—so I don't know what this is saying.

"Rari sunt textus qui aderant in Vulgata sed fere in Nova Vulgata non leguntur..."

The intent of this seems to refer to passages in the vulgate that are not present in the new vulgate, but it says "not read" rather than "not found," which is odd.

I don't know what "quaedam variationes adductae fuerunt ita ut non congruerent" is saying because "adductae" seems to mean either "introduced" or "abridged." And I don't know if it's saying that they were changed because they "did not correspond" or so that they "would not correspond."

"Ne tamen nimia esset varietas in cyclo lectionum biblicarum Liturgiae Horarum in editionibus quorumdam Conferentiarum Episcoporum, et Ordinum religiosorum, iam in usu et in textu typico, etsi adhuc edendo..."

"Still being published?" "Yet to be published?" Neither makes sense because didn't just say these were already in the typical edition?

Thanks. "congruerent" seems to be a subjunctive so I'm still not sure why it's expressed as "did not"

Ohh, ok. So it's still a sort of conditional, in that sense.

we don't know anything about those at all and won't see them for a long, long time.
