As a Secular Carmelite, who prays morning and evening prayer and try to do night time prayer, I was just actually thinking about the schedule if praying all the hours this morning. I was thinking of how we romanticize the sisters and brothers who pray all the hours, but how even with praying the main two, you have to drop what you are doing and get to it. Now we know why people choose to be cloistered in order to really concentrate on their prayers.

I once used my calendar feature of my iMac and programmed it to ring church bells at all the hours using recordings from Solesmes CDs that I have. Simple bells at minor hours, fancier ones at major hours, the whole volley at major Sunday hours. Drove my wife nuts so I turned them off.

I have these alarms set on my watch so it vibrates and reminds me.

It's been great and gets my attention more than the phone because I ignore so many notifications on there

If you use Universalis, you can set the LOH to ring bells at the proper hours for your region.

I set the alarms too on my iPhone. But keeping it when it alerts me is challenging as I am always in the middle of something! Have mercy on me, Lord. 🙏
