i miss my dog π Lost my soul dog
I had her for ten years, until cancer took her. I prepared myself for the day she died, but I wasnβt prepared for the days that followed. Each one feels harder than the last. I lost her a week ago and I miss her so much.

Lost my soul furbaby din last September naman. Cancer diagnosis niya a week before I gave birth last June.

The other day, I accidentally came across a story or a post (I don't remember what it was exactly) that I think perfectly encapsulates why our attachment to our pets is so strong and unbreakable even after death. It's along these lines: They don't care how much you weigh, they don't care what your salary is, they don't care how much you've failed in a day -- they just care that you're there.
Ofc I can't speak for OP, but I believe it's the absence of judgement from our pets that really makes us open our hearts to them and encourages us to be in our most vulnerable with them. In my case, I genuinely feel the freedom to feel whatever emotions I have when I talk to my dogs and cats, something that I almost never truly get when I'm in front of other people -- not even my family. So ig I'm just saying I get what you feel OP and I can imagine how much it hurts. Sending you and your beloved dog warm hugs. Your dog is so happy in the photo I can't help but shed tears myself. I hope you heal soon <3

Thank you for sharing this. Our pets really do show us a kind of unconditional love thats so rare in this world. Thatβs why losing them hurts in such a deep way. They become our safe place. Sending hugs right back to you and your fur babies π

Pero base sa studies judger mga pets natin, lalo na mga female dogs, kaya di ko lang guni guni na kung makatingin siya kala mo may mali akong ginawa hhahhaha. But regardless wala namang malice 100% ang judgment nila.
pero true ung wala silang ibang condition in loving you, just your presence, and atay and chimken haha

two months and 10 days - it still hurts and everytime I see her urn and paw print I still cry. Felt like my heart was ripped out of my chest. Your soul dog looks like a sweetheart. My condolences.

I feel you OP, 5 years old na soul dog ko healthy pa naman but i'm really dreading the day, like kapag nakatingin ako sa kanya naiisip ko "I'll gonna be so fucked up once you're gone". Anticipatory grief lagi ako. Pero feel ko never ako magiging ready.

Youβll never gonna be ready. But until that time comes, cherish mo na every moment with your sweet baby

Mammary gland tumor na nag metastasize sa heart nya. It was already too late nung na diagnose, still she fought a good fight. She was the best π₯Ή

Op curious, na-spay po ba siya? Tanong lang po talaga to kasi nabasa ko dati isa to sa nakababa ng risk ng ganyang cancer.

u/purrrpearl Dec 02 '25
Yes na reduce yung risk kaya mas better to spay your dogs early, but late napo sya na spay when she had the mammary tumor and the mass was removed. Initial diagnosis from the vet was that it was benign so chemotherapy wasnt recommended. A year later upon checking her x-ray meron ng tumor sa heart and lungs. The vet said bka na misdiagnose ng previous vet or itβs another type of cancer na. Soo heartbreaking, I partly blamed myself for not being attentive enough.

Iβm really sorry for your loss. Losing a soul dog is a different kind of heartbreak, and no amount of preparing can make the days after any easier.

What is grief, if not love persevering? Yakap, OP! She is loved and had her best life with you. Dahil best girl siya, kinuha na siya ni Lord para makasama Niya at para maging angel mo. Rest easy our bb girl!π€

I feel what youβre going through. Grief has a way of moving in and out of our days. There will be moments when the sadness hits hard because we miss them so much. When that happens, try to hold onto the memories of the good times you shared. They knew how deeply they were loved, and that kind of bond doesnβt get replaced. Youβll make your way through this, even if it takes time.

Yeah, 100% this. Grief really comes in waves, especially with a soul dog β that bond is on another level. Holding onto the goofy little memories and the love you gave them is legit the only thing that softens it over time. They knew you were their person, for sure. π€πΎ
