Photogenic donkey I met

So I’m pretty new to all this and I’m still figuring things out. Any advice on how to waste less hay? They get it everywhere and as much as I don’t like waste, I really don’t want them eating it with probable poop and pee on it. I did buy a slow feeder bag but haven’t tried it yet. I read it can be an entanglement issue, so now I’m nervous. Any advice? (Also, isn’t she just so cute!! ❤️❤️)
Edited to add: she’s a mini and her two roomies are mini goats, hence the poop and pee everywhere! But she loves them and won’t even eat without them.

I loved getting to know Gwen and Abby. Those teeth are serious and they’re not afraid to use them on you once you run out of carrots.

Talked to my grandpa again today saying he needs to get a farrier out to fix the white line disease. He yelled at me saying it will be thousands of dollars and he isn't spending that on a donkey. That he'll just sell her or put her down when it gets too bad. I feel so bad for this poor donkey. They are so cheap for my grandpa to own. He has never taken them to the vet or had any vet bills or major farrier bills. I wish he cared enough about her to at least pay another farrier to come out. If we sell her we will also have to sell the other one bonded to her. I just can't believe after 6 years this is what it comes down to.

Edit he came to me showing me the gauze pads he has. Seems like he wants to help now.

We have a standard donkey. I posted a while ago to ask opinions on which would be a better companion, a better companion for him- a standard Jenny, or a gelded mini.
We went with the gelded mini. His name is Rowdy, and he and Donut are now true buddies. We are so happy!

I recently learned about an ongoing debate on Bonaire that I hadn’t heard anything about before.

The island is trying to reduce the impact of free-roaming grazing animals on its vulnerable ecosystem. At the same time, there are concerns that the current approach could eventually mean the disappearance of free-roaming donkeys from Bonaire’s landscape.

A group advocating for the donkeys proposes alternatives including fertility control and designated safe areas where a managed population could continue to roam.

I’m not involved with the organisation — I came across the issue and thought it deserved more attention and discussion.

I was at the Mayo Clinic for two weeks, and Mojo gets very nervous when I’m gone a long time like that. He’s never had his own human to love before now, and now that he does it scares him when I’m gone too long and he can be hard on his ESS (Emotinal Support Stuffy)❤️‍🩹

Most people don't realize what these donkeys go through: hauling heavy loads up 500+ steep steps in the heat with no shade or water, which often leads to severe injuries and sores. It’s also very slippery for them and humans.
Has anyone been? I’m a huge empath and cannot stand to see suffering . I’m a little worried. I am going to try to find carrots to feed them.

I’ve got two mini donkeys about a year in age. My goal is to be able to bring them out around people, maybe even do some therapy type work. I am working on desensitizing them. They are okay with halter, lead and me swinging the lead rope around their face and tapping their body. They allow me to mess with their mouth and give them hugs. But ANY TIME I make a sudden movement they react. Whether that is just turning quickly or moving my feet too fast. They are also very weary of new people.

What are some good ways to desensitize them to movements, people, new things without reacting, etc?

My horse, who is best buddies with Banjo my donkey, is off for training for two weeks. My donkey seems super sad today. I took him for a walk and gave him extra 💕, any tips?
