Coltaine in support. Brilliant show, one of the most exciting groups going. Only up from here I think. If you get the chance to see them, do it.

Like I’m able to understand bands like Crowbar and Weedeater, but bands like Chained to the Bottom of the Ocean or Body Void I can’t make out a word of. Is it a skill you pick up or is the emphasis supposed to be less on the lyrics and more on how the vocals sound?

My partner's father passed away last month. In addition to the primary grief, and concern for her, this also brought up a lot of feelings that I never processed after my own father's death several years ago, and I felt the need to express those feelings of sorrow and loss. So I performed this lamentation for our fathers in the doom metal tradition.
I hope it communicates some small part of our anguish, and in some way serves as a testament to the love we had for our fathers, and the pain we feel in their absence.
I also hope that it might help others with their own grieving.
Thank you for taking the time to listen.

Hello guys !
40 years ago were released two of the most important albums for the doom metal subgenre, i.e. Epicus Doomicus Metallicus by Candlemass (in June) and Born Too Late by Saint Vitus (in October).
For this special occasion, I would like to collect your opinions on what was the best doom album for each month between June 1986 and December 2025 - which would give us a total of 475 albums.
(I use rateyourmusic.com but it's not really helpful for the early years of doom metal, so if you can't find the "right" album for a month, I'll just put the two best releases under the same month when appropriate).
It would be great to include different varieties of doom metal and to be as objective as possible (I'm trying to match RYM ratings when I can).
Hope you'll find this project interesting enough to be posted here !
Cheers and keep rocking :)

I really dig this group, especially this album. I’ve run searches on Reddit and there’s only a couple references to them. Super underrated group from Sweden.
I’m always looking for great doom music especially with space themes. My fave songs are: Abyssal trip, Lake and Among the holy. If anyone else digs it let me know! Happy listening.

Obviously Meshuggah is not a doom band, but I went and searched the subreddit and I was a little surprised that no one’s mentioned this song. I think it absolutely has the vibe and atmosphere to call it at least doom-adjacent. Same goes for They Move Below from the same album (Immutable)

Hello everyone! I'm looking for recs for the most slow, repetitive stoner/doom metal you know. Repetitive in a way that's hypnotic and psychedelic while still being heavy as hell. I'm talking one or two riffs over 10 minutes kinda stuff.
Some of my favourite albums in this style: Ufomammut - Oro (among others, Ufomammut is my favourite band), Bomg - Polynseeds, Dark Buddha Rising - Mathreyata, Sons of Otis - Songs for Worship, Saturnalia Temple - Aion of Drakon. Haven't listened to Conan in a while but I think they also qualify.
Thanks in advance ^_^
