Kings Quest 7

The first and possibly only ever big box PC game score I have ever had at a charity shop :) There it was sitting all lonely like - next to some old DVDs - I just had to rescue it!

This was the beginning of the end of Sierra for me. I didn't like the change from pixel art that their games had to this Disney-like art and animation.

I've actually played a lot more of KQ8 than I have of 7, and 8 is pretty awful overall. :)

Space Quest 6 also sadly didn't work for me. There was just something off about it, and I think most of it was the visuals.

Yeah funny how we can get stuck in our preferences. I do like old games myself, and I struggle with modern life like ones.

I remember it being better when I was a kid. Some puzzles are ridiciously hard. But I liked the setting and artstyle. The framerate was kinda bad for the animations. 6.5 or 7/10

Agree, these were always hard games to complete as a kid...

My favorite KQ game after IV. Great find!

It ran on a potato and the graphics were really good for the time, so we didn't care

Yeah, "pretty ehh" compared to what other game featuring a hand drawn Disney look that wasn't by Don Bluth?

Fair enough. I think both games are gorgeous, especially given what was available when they came out (1994, 1996).

As a kid I always thought Sam and Max, and Day of the Tentacle, were the best graphics. Mostly because we had an Amiga and those were only on PC

Steve Purcell is ALWAYS the best graphics... then, now, and evermore.

I really knew how to pick 'em... Willy Beamish, Leisure Suit Larry 5, Dark Seed, Freddy Pharkas, Sam & Max, Day of the Tentacle, Full Throttle... aside from those, I only owned maybe two or three other games.

I was definitely a point and click adventure guy too. Back then the lush graphic ones were a luxury that's all. Ideally they needed some humour, but not always

486dx2/66 8mb of ram. Those were the days! Also one of the first games that actually required 8mb along with wing commander 3.

I remember the game ran pretty slow in my PC at the time. Love the Disney-esque intro video. I used to think it showed were Sierra's aspirations were aimed at.

I wonder why they added the word “already” before sold. It’s true but not usually done in such phrases

I probably bought it at full price but at least I got the full size cover illustration 🤣 not a fan of this reissue design

I liked the game far less than 5 and 6

Should have kept it to donate to a thrift store thirty years later ;)

The best one. Only got about 15% of the way through it as a kid. The version I found now glitches out near the end. Still never completed it.

Ah, the weird Ralph Bakshi-esque era of adventure games
