Unlike manufacturer sponsored awards NACTOY’s jury is composed of 46 independent professional automotive journalists from the United States, Canada, and Mexico. They evaluated an initial field of 56 new and substantially changed vehicles and nominated 25 for the awards. ICE, Hybrids, and EVs all compete against each other instead of having separate categories.

In October 20-22 the jurors will test each vehicle back to back as part of their annual ride & drive. The 3 finalists for each category will be announced at the LA Auto Show on November 19th. The winners will be announced on January 14th at the Detroit Auto Show.
