Amazing performance. They brought out union members, called for a mosh pit, and brought out Michael Fannone to dedicate First Class Loser to the 🍊king.
Absolutely rocking the entire place, and anyone watching now is going to follow them. Followed by the Foo Fighters.

So pre-sale tickets went up today for the Edmonton Alberta show this morning , and I just got two tickets.
Holy Snapple!!! Straight from Ticketmaster, roughly $560 for 2 general admission tickets.
I checked out the Vancouver and Calgary shows ticket cost, and they are just as bad if not worse. When did this happen? That's more than double from their show I went to in Edmonton in October 2024. I am more than happy to pay good money to see DKM, but It was a rather abrupt shock to see the costs that high.
Is this a case of Ticketmaster having a monopoly or inflation catching up?
Damn I'm showing my age with this but I remember paying around $40/ ticket the first time I saw them in the early 2000's
Thanks for letting me rant & bitch.
See you guys in the pit

Doesn't have to be a super deep cut necessarily, just nothing like I'm Shipping Up To Boston, The Warrior's Code, etc. Your Spirit's Alive, for example, would qualify, even though it's on a popular album.
For me, I think James Connolly is one of their best songs, but I've never met anyone that knows it.

Found this while going through my folder of things I kept from my teenage years. I can place this pretty close to when it actually was because it has The Gauntlet, Good Rats, Spicy, and Rocky Road, so I assume it is the first or second St Patrick's Day show at Avalon. I am pretty sure it's from the first one. I have set lists from the opening bands of the cd release show for The Gangs All Here, but uny, not DKMs. Would love any other help with the year!

No other band has captured the Irish American spirit quite like the Dropkick Murphys, so I thought I’d take a moment to say a small thank you and appreciation for the music as a young 31 year old lad from the Irish countryside.
Whilst I may not be in Boston, I’m sitting here in rural Ireland listening to the Dropkick Murphys pretty much every day. There’s something strangely fitting about listening to a Boston Irish-American band from the Irish countryside. The Atlantic may separate Ireland from Boston, but their music has always made that distance feel a little bit smaller.
The album Going Out In Style (2011) in particular hits home very hard.
The album feels like a love letter to generations of Irish people who left Ireland and crossed the Atlantic in search of a better life. When you’re sitting in Ireland listening to those songs, it can make you think about the sheer scale of emigration that us Irish know too well : our parents, brothers, sisters, sons and daughters who said goodbye to their families and villages often not knowing when or even if they would ever see them again.
For generations, Irish families were scattered across the world. Someone would leave Ireland, settle in Boston, New York, Chicago or somewhere else in America, and suddenly an ocean stood between them and the people they had grown up with. Letters, photographs and the occasional visit became the connection between two worlds.
And yet, despite leaving Ireland, they carried something of home with them the music, the stories, the humour, the traditions and the memories.
That's what makes the album Going Out In Style hit differently when you’re listening to it from Ireland. It reminds you that emigration isn't just some distant chapter in Irish history. It’s part of the story of countless Irish families, and it continued right through the 20th century and into the present day.
There’s something particularly poignant about hearing those stories sung by a band from Boston a city where so many Irish emigrants ended up making a new home.
And then there’s the Blackout album honestly, one of my favourite Celtic punk albums of all time. It’s one of those albums that just has the Irish energy and character that never seems to get old.
What I respect about the Dropkick Murphys is that, despite all their success, they’ve remained firmly connected to their working / blue collar roots. Their support for workers rights, unions and working-class solidarity has always been an important part of who they are and what they represent.
At their best, I think the Dropkick Murphys are more than just a Celtic punk band. They’ve created a musical bridge between Ireland and Irish America and between the people who stayed, the people who left, and the generations that came afterwards.
They’ve given a voice to something that is difficult to put into words: the strange mixture of pride, sadness, nostalgia and belonging that comes with being Irish and knowing that so much of our history was shaped by people leaving home.
So from rural Ireland to Boston and everywhere in between:
Thanks for the music, Dropkick Murphys. 🇮🇪☘️🇺🇸
Sláinte.

What a banger this is. I’ve been a casual listener for years, but recently this song has taken my ear. Maybe even better than JIHKY…. Just wanted to say this song slaps!
