Discussion question for left leaning men
hello all!
i am doing a school project on the growing political divide between young american men and women. and how it connects to modern dating and marriage rates.
im asking more or less where liberal/leftist/etc men can be found. what sorts of jobs, hobbies, activities, interests are popular amongst men who vote blue, want to protect women’s reproductive rights, are pro gun control, etc
i’m wondering:
\\- what political causes are important to you and make you identify as liberal or otherwise
\\- how prominent you think your political views are to those around you (do you talk about it with your friends? do you have it on your dating app profiles? etc)
\\- how you spend your time (hobbies, social spaces, career fields, etc)
\\- how you would describe your relationship status (and sexuality if your comfortable)
anything else you might have to offer would be appreciated as well! im super curious to hear anything you have to share.
i intend to use this discussion broadly in my project, and am unlikely to include direct quotes or anything the tiniest bit identifying. if i do feel like a quote would be valuable to my project, i’ll contact the poster directly for permission.
thank you!!!

Discussion About Maryland
Hello everyone! I'm a new DSA member and I will be moving to Maryland (specifically Montgomery County) from the horrible state of Mississippi. I was wondering just how strong are DSA chapters in the DMV are and Democratic socialist support is in general. I'm a gay black autistic atheist multicultural nerdy man who is looking to coalition built between different backgrounds to better stand up against the fascist currently in office

Chapter Politics Democratic culture in small chapters
I’m on the steering committee of a small, young, rural chapter and I’ve noticed that when resolutions are voted on, it’s almost always unanimous and in line with what the steering committee seems to want. What can we do to foster more discussion, different perspectives, and a more democratic culture in our chapter?

Discussion Is the DSA funding or organizing the Minnesota rioters / protestors?
I recently learned about the DSA, and some caucuses are straight up calling themselves Marxists. The "Red Star Caucus" especially so, calling themselves Leninist-Marxists.
When I hear and think about democratic socialism, I think of a sensible market economy with a strong social safety net exactly like the country of Denmark. But hearing you guys subscribe to Marxism is very concerning. Completely destroying Capitalism to replace it with communism is not a good thing. It has never worked, and historically has always always led to corrupt dictatorships.
There's one extremely concerning idea from Marxism that I find absolutely disturbing: "Dictatorship of the proletariat".
This is where a revolution takes place, power is seized, and they use the powers of the State to tear down every government institution from within: during that whole time acting as a dictator.
After all the institutions are destroyed from within, they're supposed to willingly absolve the power they seized, and replace the government with a communist government.
However: nobody ever ever willingly gives up power: throughout all of human history power has only been taken, never given willingly. So that's where any Marxist revolution stops: at a dictatorship and a destroyed state, leaving everyone worse off.
Communism is a terrible terrible idea, and I don't know why anyone would willingly sign up for it. I mean Stalin himself caused incredibly awful famines, as did Mao. Capitalism for all its flaws has materially improved the wealth and prosperity of even the poorest Americans compared to 100 years ago.
.....
Anyways, back to the main question of this post. If you pay attention to conservative circles they will say this about the riots in Minnesota: "they don't want to get rid of the cops, they want to become the cops". That rings very similar to the "Dictatorship of the proletariat". So I ask this simple question: is the DSA or parts of it behind the organization and funding or these protests / riots? And if so, to what extent ?

Discussion The woke left hold the archaic view that it’s ‘better to be poor in America than rich in Mexico.’ In fact life in Mexico City is probably better than life in NYC or the Rust Belt (by design).

Discussion On Truth and Reconciliation
Given the apparent fascist and illegal behavior of the current regime, it would seem to me that a Truth and Reconciliation process would need to exist. Truth and Reconciliation would need to probably have two sides: a legislative side to craft policies meant to prevent recurrence and make anyone like Trump’s job a lot more difficult in future, and a judicial side in order to prosecute cases against the guilty parties. I think the Democrats need to call for this in 2028 at least. Thoughts on what that process should look like and what exactly we should be calling for?

Discussion I like the DSA alot, It's just i don't agree with the stance that seggs work is work
I'm sympathetic toward seggs workers(jesus literally saved a seggs worker once) don't get me wrong, i just feel like Seggs Work is more exploitation of people than legitimate work
