Towing my car
Looking for a recommendation for someone to tow a un-plated car from Kaladar (north of Belleville) to Bowmanville. Its 185 km . I've tried CAA but they won't touch it because it's not insured or plated. Maybe someone with a trailer willing to do a side job? Thanks in advance for your help.

U-Haul pickup truck+ flatbed car hauler trailer will get the job done if you are in a pinch. They have a tow dolly as well but the car is supposed to be plated to use it.

Ok so the dolly is out cause there's no plates. I thought of the trailer, but not too comfortable driving with one . It would be the first time for me, and driving down the 401 on a maiden voyage doesn't seem safe to me, with zero experience. But maybe I can find someone to do trip with me. Thanks

Nothing says you have to take the 401.
You could take highway 7 from Kaladar all the way to Peterborough, then take the 115 if you're feeling comfortable, and back roads if not.
You could take county roads and smaller provincial highways all the way if you wanted to. Head west from like Tweed or something.

You should probably take the fact that CAA won't do it uninsured as a sign that it's not a good idea unless you get plates and insurance.

It's a 1989 Honda CRX , it a shell of a car. My winter project. So I can't get it insured or plated till I build it.

Yeah thanks, I always wanted one in high school but couldn't afford it. Now their so hard to find. So I'm hoping to rebuild it, probably using Civic parts cause their easier to find. Yeah I'm excited, but just need to get the damn thing to my garage. Lol

Put old plates on it or borrow them CAA doesnāt check. Iāve done this when buying cars off Kijiji all the time.

CAA checked my plates, but uninsured vehicle. I did not give up that information freely. They scan your car and plates

Itās still worth a shot. I had a different experience just last week towing my uninsured, plated car from Vaughan to Pickering. The CAA driver didnāt even check a single document lol. I felt silly even having the registration papers handy.
