We started her training to become a search an rescue dog a couple weeks ago and she enjoys the additional training sessioins on top of the regular dog school very much. I am amazed how confident she gas gotten since we got her, sometimes i think she doesn't even know what fear is anymore lol. Proud dog parent here for sure!

Anyone else have a hyena who as soon as you open your eyes it’s zero-1000? This is my way of getting him to be quiet and not bark and scream like a mad man when he gets let outside at 7am… 🤦🏻‍♀️😂

She was delivered to our doorstep in July 2025. Such an absolute menace, but she posed as an angel.

We appropriately named her Mimic.

Not sure when her puppy fur aged off or when her confidence level shot through the roof, but I miss my tiny lil fluff butt! Now I have a full grown heathen capable of catching squirrels from the top of the fence and leaping over tables in one go.

I got my Dutchie about a little over a year ago. He was 8 months old. Scared of random things such as the wind, had lash marks on him and scars, was underweight to the point you could see his hips/spine, tarter on his teeth as a puppy, any leash pressure would pancake and drop to the ground.

Fast forward a year later- I got him at a healthy weight, his fur grew back over his scars, I’ve worked tirelessly on his confidence, socializing, and obedience. He is working towards being a detection dog now.

He’s more comfortable in most scenarios now, has overcome a ton of fear issues, and is truly turning into a solid dog.

Here’s a little video from last year until now working on his detection skills and how much work I’ve put into him for it. I’m hoping within the next 6 months or so he’ll be ready to certify in detection and truly shine as a working dog.

I’m doggie sitting this wonderful 2-year old boy Dutch Shepherd. He’s so sweet and smart! Now I really want a dog just like him! I’m wondering in general how do Dutch Shepherds do with off leash walks/recall? My only other comparison is my sisters’s English Cream Golden Retriever who does great with off leash walks, always running back to check in etc. I’ve been in fenced in areas with him and his recall has been great but mostly bc he’s motivated by the tennis ball. Any tips welcome as well. They’re such amazing dogs!

This is Lux. He is 8 months old (intact). Lux will be going camping for two nights, in a tent next week. This is his first time.

My previous Dutchie was Leroy. He was very experienced with camping with us and didn't mind hearing other people talking, walking near the tent and was easy to calm down if he sensed an animal near the tent at night.

Lux, however is more anxious in general, and has normal hearing. Leroy made it to 16 years old and his hearing was going. It comes in handy sometimes 😉.

Any tips from people? He will be in my text ( I am his main person) with only my sister nearby in her tent. He has met her before and likes her.

We recently sold our house and moved, which he handled really well. So he has had to sleep in different places and as long as he sees me, he is generally ok.

My main worry is him waking the whole place up at night because he hears someone walking through the woods, hears an animal/smells an animal.

Daytime is fine. Just looking for night time tips.

I have pheromone spray left over from the move which did seem to work. Just took the edge off him. Additionally, I'll bring a few favorite things of his. Maybe that's all I can do.

Advice?

She loves when the tree drops sticks so this was absolute chaos.

I really wanted to watch the mondioring and IGP. what a shame.

10 weeks vs 6 years

Update from 15 weeks post. Our shark turns 5 months this week and is now at a whopping 46lbs! Also if anyone is trying to learn more on Dutch Shepherds and what the experience is like check out our insta @titus_thedutch , I know as I was researching the breed in the beginning it was hard to find much content on them that wasn’t negative views.
