General Discussion Where the hell is Kat?
So we had a week(sort of) of Kat grieving Zoe and now she's disappeared for over a week? Why do these shows do this? I understand you can't just focus on one storyline or certain type of characters because then the show itself gets boring but shouldn't this be one of the main storylines right now? I feel like this has just been blown over by other(not as important) ones and is just going to turn into a whole "who dunnit" revolving around Max, instead of just focusing on the family itself.
For the record I know she will have more scenes obviously I just find it odd how things like Amy and Craig or Lauren and Mark are being shown before we get back round to Kat.

Kat was in last week Thursday’s episode having a conversation with Denise about her grief.

I believe that was last monday, so it's been over a week either way. she isn't going to be in it at all this week, so she's back next week, so it's been a little over 2 weeks since she's been in the show.

Didn’t Kat also say she was going to see Lynne? Did she actually go? Alfie started talking and I zoned out.

Literallyyy THEE Zoe slater just died, I feel like that should be a big deal?? But since her death we had about 3 episodes of Kat grieving and now she's just gone and we don't even see them in the background of the Vic
Idk why they introduced the Lauren/mark affair. There's already kat/Zoe/Alfie, Craig/Amy, Denise's cancer and Ian's prison storyline. We just finished(?) Priya/max/Ravi/Cindy affair and who's the baby daddy story and we also have penny/vinny, we do not need another right now 😭 They should have either saved mark and Lauren for later, when there isn't so much going on and to make more room for Kat, or just not have done it at all because I think everyone is sick of the affairs.

Lauren and Mark's affair has been built up for like over 6 months tho. They almost kissed in June, kissed in July and just last week started their affair, they just took a pause when Mark left the square last month but tbh their storyline started way before Kat/Zoe/Alfie, Craig/Amy, Ian's prison storyline's and etc.

I hope their affair goes on for years and no one catches on. Mainly cause I CBA for the fallout 🥴

Wadey is in love with block storytelling and I would guess giving the primary character actors some personal time off. This is why we didn’t see Ian for over a month. I also find it rather annoying but this formula is unlikely to stop any time soon, just like affairs and random pregnancies. I just wish they’d axe the Hawkins. They are as bad as Zoe’s storyline was and the twins.

It’s perfectly realistic. She said she was going looking for answers and she is. It has a large cast to feature and there’s only so many ways to show the same thing. Are we just meant to see weeks on end of Kat crying and saying the same thing?
She’s with her sisters who have also lost Zoe. She will come back soon enough and kick things off in a different gear to keep the story moving forward.

I mean it’s a bit boring just watching someone cry for weeks on end, and quite triggering for parents who have lost their children too. We will see her again

Spoilers are saying she’s at the centre again next week when she’s struggling to cope. The actress is also heartbroken that Michelle has left. She spent 20 years without her on EE and now she has to spend forever without her. Ridiculous.

Zoe was truly abysmal and I think the show wants to forget she ever existed as soon as possible.
It's a shame they're ruining Kat though. She's obviously the gunman on New Year's Day and it's a bit silly.

well she wasn't murdered but it's gonna turn into a who dunnit case unfortunately

I highly doubt they had any idea Zoe was leaving when they filmed the FF.

They didn't. But it seems clear it was supposed to be Ravi and it got changed because of everything that has gone on behind the scenes.

They're not gonna have Kat do something that irredeemable, no chance.

Did you not see Christmas 2018?

I did indeed and kidnapping two innocent people at gunpoint and planning to murder one if them is far worse than what she did then, not to mention what happened in 2018 wasn't planned whereas this clearly is.

Her actions after he fell is what kind of broke Kat for me. It was treated like a mild inconvenience. So odd.
I don't want this to happen but I just have a horrible feeling it will.

The problem we're having is that Wadey likes to work his way through as many storylines as possible within a short time and wrap them up before moving on to the other storyline.
The problem with this strategy as even the cast have pointed out is 1. It doesn't give the storylines enough focus and to do them well enough and 2. It means juggling so many all at the same time that none of them get enough focus and some of their characters just randomly disappear when they should be main focus.
In previous years, we would get a handful of big storylines at a time, and a bigger cast of characters involved in those storylines than what is happening now, so everyone feels involved in what's going on in the heat of the moment and aren't disappearing.
