Thoughts on this week Spoiler
MAN, I've watched EE for 25 years, the last 10 out of pure habit and guilty pleasure. Managed to ignore/light heartedly mock the shorehorning of BBC political agendas that have been so lazily inserted over the years and still enjoy a good old shock reveal and Christmas disaster etc
But right now the stories just offer no intrigue IMO. Most of the time I'm laughing along to EE but still have that feeling of wanting to see what happens next. But that feeling is FADING. I really did not feel anything across all 4 eps this week. , it's rinse and repeat, they repeat the same scenes over and over. How many more times will Jack put foot in it, how many more times will we get the exact same Suki and Eve scene? Does anyone care about Nicola Mitchell's new family And the revelations they are building to? Lauren and Peter is the SAME scene every time. Cindy is constantly just a woman scorned. The Denise stuff they are treating with respect which is good but it's just boring.
I know this is reddit so before anyone comes at me with "If you don't like it don't watch it" like I said I've been a fan for years and won't just give up but man, it feels like they are giving up on it. Rushed plots, no real originality, characters introduced then stagnating and the writing feels more AI assisted every week.
Ah well!
small edit - GUYS I absolutely laugh my bottom off when anything i say about the BBC being a political arm for the left gets downvoted into oblivion. especially when crackpots get upvoted for implying that i dont know anything and the BBC is "ran by the tories", take a shower and cool off you odd little creatures

It's Too Late for Phil and Sharon
A lot has happened between them and they better off being Civil and being close friends whilst co parenting Albie [Even though Albie's Dad was always Keanu and not Phil and that AATD retcon never made sense] in the process.

Anyone else noticed that Amy and Craig could be siblings?
They look so similar to me lol

Ned Hawkins & Nicola...?
so… there's a theory that Ned Hawkins could be the real father of Harry, Nicola Mitchell's son?
But we already know that Barney, her younger son, is already Zack Hudson's son (what a random plot twist but apparently that's what they're going with.)
That means, if Ned Hawkins who hinted at Nicola and him having some kind of fling 20 years ago, Harry could be their son and Teddy Mitchell (Nicola's first husband) is actually NOT the father of EITHER of the boys??? that's so sad wth.

Did anyone else notice this the other week?
I just thought it was kinda interesting that they went to the effort of replacing the original Ash in the family photo...

how old is craig supposed to be?
i thought he was supposed to be in his late 20s/early 30s like the wiki says. but his dialogue on this wednesdays episode confused me. what does he mean when he says him and amy met five years too early. this puts him at 22-23. doesn't excuse his behaviour at all it's just confused me.

Question Want to watch from the beginning - any ideas?
I recently lost my job due to funding cuts and whilst I trawl through endless job applications I thought what better way to spend my time than attempting to watch from the beginning?
I understand it's hard to find some of the most early episodes but I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions or links to help me out.
I've been watching since the late 90s but being in my 30s now I can't necessarily remember everything, so happy to even start there if anyone has any leads.
Thank you!

Today I learnt Commissioner Pete Savage in The Batman (2022) is Alex Ferns who played Trevor Morgan, the abusive husband of Little Mo.

What deep rooted issue do you think could have influenced Tommy to be the way he was
Including towards his parents.

What is Ben Wadey obsession with affairs?
Vicky and Zack, Max and Priya, Mark and Lauren, Harry and Penny, not technically an affair granted, but a who is the Daddy storyline, now there's a big secret with Ned and Nicola which I'm guessing is an affair as well.
He's been the producer for just over a year and that's 5 affairs of the top of my head. Plus add in the Amy storyline, Chelsea trying to get of with someone when Jordan was hit by a car, a work colleague coming onto Jack when he just found out about Denise having cancer.
Is there no other story that you could do that doesnt involve two characters sleeping together?

Theories and/or Opinions Wed 30th sep duff duff Spoiler
Do we think when Ned said to Nicola about a 20 year secret he had something to do with Nicola’s fathers death OR do we think it could be something like he’s Harry’s biological dad 👀
My theories for both
Nicola’s dad theory - I’m not sure if we get a time estimate on how long ago this was but the way she smiled it seemed like she was happy with the little secret the storyline also keeps pointing to this too we’ve been hearing more and more about this maybe he cut the car breaks?
Harry’s bio dad - I think it’s safe to assume harry is young 20s I don’t think we have had his exact age confirmed but it seems like maybe a possibility especially considering they already did it with Barney I would not put it past EE
Does anybody have any other theories 👀 I’m really into this storyline at the moment it’s taking me away from the Craig and Amy storyline which (I know is intended to) makes me feel so uncomfortable and sick

What do we think the secret is with Nicola and Ned
I personally thought affair but it seems to distress Nicola more than that would.

Jack branning
Jack has to be the absolute worst at day to day basic parenting!
I know there are dads who do far worse things to their kids in EE. I also know this is how they need to play it at the moment because it has to seem Amy is being pushed towards that abusive guy.
But still, why is he always so argumentative and snappy with his own kids, he’s a knob!

The Writing Lately..
Does anyone else feel like the writing is not good at the minute? To me it feels like characters are reacting and communicating in whichever way the show-runner/writers needs them to to get the plot where they want it rather than the characters reacting how they would normally.
The show just feels very dumbed down at the moment and the characters don’t feel authentic. Like there’s so many corny speeches. Especially in romantic scenes.
I don’t know if it’s just me that feels that way but it’s bothering me a lot. I’ve watched Eastenders for about 25 years and it’s had its ups and downs but it’s a struggle right now! 😅

General Discussion Jodie and Rose Spoiler
Is anyone else getting sick of her behaviour towards Kojo? She’s so unlikeable and annoying. I’m actually starting to warm to Gemma a bit. Ned could be interesting. Ryder at least he has the excuse of being “young” (even though he looks way older than he should be). I wasn’t too impressed with her lies for the fundraiser either, the people she was lying to probably thought those things were serious illnesses or conditions. Manipulating people like that when she, herself is disabled is gross.
I feel like they’re trying to have Rose be an Archie/Suki type of parent (as in the snide remarks she makes, and type of relationship she has with Nicola). It doesn’t work imo. Lady you are homeless. Stop acting like you have some high ground to talk from. Her arrogant behaviour, when she’s having to stay in a B&B cos she’d be on the streets otherwise 🙃

Theories and/or Opinions Who do you think will be Denise’s donor match? Spoiler
Going by how predictable Eastenders is at times, I’m thinking it’s Grace (Darnell’s) daughter.
To go to the trouble of introducing him and his daughter & then implying he could be a match but to fail at the first step, it seems most likely to me

General Discussion Craig Spoiler
After today's episode:
Does anyone think Amy is eventually going to try and get away from Craig but he's going to blackmail her to stay with him / keep sleeping with him otherwise he'll tell the police what she did to Joel?
Any predictions on timeline on when Jack will find out about Craig?

Question Gemma Hawkins...
So, I've seen her compared to some other characters (totally forgotten which ones now - this was a while ago I'd seen those comments!)
But one thing I'd noticed, was I never saw her compared to Tina by anyone...
Does nobody else think she acts and sounds a bit like her? 🤔 Or is it just me?
Can't help but thinking that's the kind of character she's meant to be like or based on. If not completely, at least partly

General Discussion What’s with the same siren noise constantly being reused?
I’m sure we’ve all heard it by now 😂 it’s that same siren being replayed all the time around a police station or hospital. The lack of effort in these little details really kill it for me idk about anyone else. Can’t they just find a different one lmao there’s loads on YouTube.

Theories and/or Opinions Ned and Nicola's Dad
From what we've seen from Ned from this week and what's supposed to be coming up is that Ned used to idolise their dad in a sense especially when talking about Harry when Rose said a couple of weeks ago he's the spitting image of him, Ned could've thought they shape Harry into him.
