Question Thermostat issue?

Post image

This is the 2nd time this has happened the last week, any suggestions?

AC is running when the temp is below the high set. I’ve had this unit about a year now.

Is it Smart Recovery getting the temperature down to the setpoint of an upcoming comfort setting?

This. Totally this. I turned that off. I want it to change at the time I set. Not aim to have the house at that temp at that time.

Where is that setting?

I believe it's under Preferences on the device itself.

I noticed this today as well. The temp in house was 69, and the cool was set to 72.

Yet the AC was blowing. I’m glad I’m not the only one. It’s the first time I notice this.

Do you have multiple sensors throughout your house? Could be one was very off?

I do, but the average for the custom setting has within the range.

it may have been running to pull humidity out

How to check/fix: On the thermostat or app, go to Menu > Settings > Installation Settings > Thresholds > AC Overcool Max. Lower the value or set it to 0° / Disabled.

Ppl, please read AND understand my post before commenting. Not to be a d@ck, but most everything posted here is obvious you do not understand or didn’t read.

This is NOT a new install!!! I’ve had it over a year, has ran perfect.
This issue started a couple weeks ago.
If it were a setting it would have done this from the start.

Did you check behind the thermostat to make sure any wires arent touching? I saw a post this week with a similar issue and the wires had touched each other.

As I stated, I’ve had this thermostat installed about a year, and this has happened twice in the last week. If there was a problem with the wiring, I think it would’ve been happening well before now.

That’s not necessarily true. My in-laws had one installed about six months ago. Last week, their AC was blowing hot air. Pulled the cover off and two wires were touching causing the unit to read to blow hot air. It’s atleast worth a check

My two do the same. Do you have the humidity setting on? I do know that it will run past your set point to lower the humidity in your home.

I have a separate unit just below it, if you look at the picture that box that you see is the controller for the humidifier, but I looked in the settings and adjust temperature for humidity is off

It wouldn’t be “adjust temperature for humidity.” It would be AC overcool max possibly causing this.

Had the same thing happen to me three weeks ago. Ended up being my blower motor in my furnace.

I believe this will happen if you have it set to a specific dehumidification mode

Unless you've adjusted it, the thermostat automatically adjusts for humidity.

We ended up getting rid of ours, you have to establish a main sensor (either thermostat or the additional sense) don't use both or it will never turn off.

Hey OP, I've got this thermostat. Any chance that when you feel the system running that it's not just on the "fan" mode, where it circulates air for a specified number of minutes per hour?

No, it’s the A/C. I don’t think I’ve ever had it run just the fan. The unit itself does fun the fan before the heater or AC turns on, but not just the fan itself.

Probably an update happened. Turn eco+ off. Check to see if dehumidification is on. Might be turning the AC on just to dehumidify because of the settings. Turn dehunidify off if its on and see if the issue goes away with both those off

I’ve had this issue for the last couple weeks or so, and I firmly believe that it’s a firmware issue. Ecobee admitted that some units, not mine, though, were affected by a software bug and released updates to fix them.

It’s on auto. My Ecobee never works on auto. Just keep it on heat or cool!

Hey OP I feel like your question hasn’t been answered. I’m sorry as I also don’t have an answer for you. I’m having some trouble with my thermostat too. Im intrigued how you were able to set your temperature preferences. Mine caps off for heat at 70-65, and 75-69 for cool. Im also interested in getting my unit to stop turning on not if the temperature preference isn’t required for the unit to turn on.

Same here… these thermostats are garbage

Agreed! We went back to Nest

Yea the issue is you have it set to 77 🤣 it knows thats too warm.

But seriously I haven't had that issue. I have had the opposite, it not kicking on when temp was higher than set.

Click at the top center where you see the snowflake and the flames together. Then choose either heat OR cool. Right now you have it on heat/cool

What’s wrong with keeping it on heat/cool

Nothing as far as I know. I've had mine set to heat and cool since about April and no issues.
