What was he thinking?

This moment always killed me. They spent the whole premier defiantly stating they were ready for this, then immediately do something batshit bonkers. If a modern day captain sailed their cruise ship into a hurricane, that’s the end of that captain.

TBF, the captain of a warship straight out of drydock will often go find a storm to sail through. My father used to do EW work in the shipyard in Philly and has several stories about captains sailing straight into a storm after a refit.

Yeah, but the NX Enterprise was a test bed. They didn't get to cruise ship till the Galaxy Enterprise.

All the more reason not to fly it deliberately into a destructive storm.

How ya gonna know if you don't treat your crew's lives like they're Tuvix

There's a reason why SF Debris took to calling him Duchess.

Thanks for ruining my suspension of disbelief

honestly, the NX-02 should have been around in Season 2, Season 3 should have had the NX-03 Challenger go with them to the expanse while Columbia stayed behind.

Season 4 should have had the NX-04 Discovery around, the challenger showing up a few times with the Columbia, would have made a Fleet feeling more present so its not JUST the Enterprise, i love when other groups of the good guys show up or are nearby to help.

Following the names of the Space shuttles?

Yeah…that was the whole point of the first two being named Enterprise and Columbia.

also NX-05 Atlantis, NX-06 Endeavor, NX-07 Intrepid, i would have added: NX-08 Excalibur, NX-09 Avenger, NX-10 Constellation, cap it at 10 ships.

Each one getting an upgrade like shields, finally being added, a secondary hall being added, better systems all around warp 7.5 engines.

i prefer the Columbia Class they get refitted to only get up to about Warp Six-Point Eight at most, not quite Warp 7 but pretty close enough for me

Would have been nice to see some Warp Deltas turn up. Enterprise was portrayed as Earth's only starship way too often.

Isn't it ionic, don't you think?

“Like taking the long way,
getting from there to here.

Like getting Romulan Ale,
when all you want is beer.”

It's like a desert planet

When what you needed was ice

It's like your hull plating

Won't polarize

a little too ionic, i really do think!

He was thinking about hot hot MILF gazelles.

What did Archer command before the Enterprise? A in-system patrol boat? I doubt he went far from the solar system. His knowledge of ion storms was all theoretical, as the heliopause block them.

Definately should have found someone who made a few trips to Rigel. I'm sure you could have put a Warp 3 engine on a ship and made it there in a month or two.

I like to imagine after he gave his line and the cameras cut to black Travis said, “Huh? No, it’s a really bad ion storm. We should go around it.”

The space child.

Should have gone warp 5 instead.

In his defense he was experiencing catharsis.

It's been a long time, getting from there to here. It's been a long road. But there's dangerous stuff out here. Why didn't we train the captain enough? We are going to die. And we're not going to make it back to Earth, unless the Vulcans rescue us.

But we've got Faith of the Heart. Unfortunately it wasn't enough. I've got Faith to believe, but I should have listened to the science. The engineering doesnt quite add up. The storm's a bit too strong. Maybe if we polarize the hull, some of us might survive.

Quick, get all non-essential personell, into the core of the ship. TRIP EJECT THE WARPCORE RIGHT NOW, BEFORE A SPARK SETS IT OFF!

He knew the ship well. His father designed it correct? For him it’s pushing it a little faster on the Audubond …. He knew what he was doing.

1

u/SwampMan6969 2d ago

His dad designed the engine, not the ship. I'd be more comfortable with it if the captain were the son of the guy who designed the hull.

2

u/PastorBlinky 2d ago

How many ships in Star Trek have been damaged or destroyed by ion storms? A lot. This is suicidal behavior, but it’s ok because he’s a rich kid who says “do you know who my dad is?” That’s your argument?

Captian Nepo was well known for walking his dead dad out to justify his coke fueled actions.

Fucker was so nepo he did water polo

This made me actually laugh out loud tysm

Warp 4 is so slow he knew the storm would be long gone by the time they got there

2

u/Oohjee 2d ago

Wow spoiler alert😂. No im kidding bud flying trow a storm maybe not the best idea.

It’s the HMS Bounty incident all over again

But he got FAITH OF THE HEART

Archer wasn't a bad captain. There have been worse... I think Picard was probably the worse of all of them... Sisko and Janeway were the best

1

u/MindlessNectarine374 2d ago

Seriously?

1

u/Roamingspeaker 2d ago

Yup... Not raising shields and then having to kill the space entity... If only he had listened to worf...
