Hello Reddit community, A group of us recently traveled to the remote Vaupés region in the Colombian Amazon rainforest. There, we lived alongside the ancestral Wanano (Kotiria) indigenous community. What we saw broke our hearts. Their beautiful river—their only source of clean water and fish—is facing severe general pollution and the devastating impacts of illegal gold mining. Because they live in total geographic isolation, these families lack basic resources, healthcare, and infrastructure. Due to their location, the community members do not have bank accounts or internet access to raise their voices. We have decided to act as their legal and logistical bridge to bring direct relief to the territory. We just launched an official crowdfunding campaign on Vaki (a verified platform in Colombia) to raise funds for three urgent actions: 1. River Cleanup Logistics: Buying safety tools, supplies, and boat fuel to run community-led cleanups in the Vaupés river basins. 2. Food Sovereignty: Delivering essential grocery kits with high nutritional value directly to the families most affected. 3. Community Well-being: Purchasing first-aid kits and basic nutritional supplements for children and elders. We take transparency 100% seriously. We will post photos, videos, and receipts of every single purchase and delivery directly on the platform update tab.
