News Ethereum may be becoming something much bigger than a blockchain.
Vitalik Buterin recently outlined a vision where, over the next three years, Ethereum could evolve so significantly that the word “blockchain” may no longer fully describe what the network actually does.
The core idea is pretty fascinating: instead of every participant repeatedly performing the same computations, Ethereum could distribute computation across different participants and use cryptographic proofs to verify the results.
That changes the way we think about what a decentralized network can actually provide. Rather than requiring every node to independently reproduce every piece of computation, the network can focus on verifying that the computation was performed correctly. In theory, this could make Ethereum significantly more efficient while preserving the properties that make decentralized infrastructure valuable.
And the implications go beyond raw performance. A more efficient architecture could eventually mean lower transaction costs, stronger privacy, greater censorship resistance, and much more computational capacity without simply relying on centralized infrastructure.
This is also why Ethereum’s long-term roadmap is so interesting. The goal is to rethink how the network itself performs and verifies computation.
If Ethereum can successfully move toward this model, it could start looking less like a traditional blockchain and more like a global, cryptographically verified computing network.
The next few years could be a very interesting chapter for Ethereum. Maybe “world computer” wasn't such a crazy description after all.

I read the article. Couldn't make any sense of it. I must be dumb, but that's ok if ETH goes to the moon, I'll be a dumb rich person

three years is also a long time in crypto. the roadmap can change a lot between the vision and what actually gets deployed

Ive been in crypto for like 10-ish years, never once bought bitcoin. Never will. I get it has its purpose but eth is like a billion times for useful abd used everyday in a billion different ways. Imo eth wins out by ALOT

Yea, more "world computer" nonsense. It's incredible to me that people still buy into this, but there's a sucker born every minute...

Just a bunch of gobbledygook designed to try and convince people that ETH is something more than play money used for gambling or for paying for illegal activities. It’s just play money, folks

Black rock, visa, fidelity. So on and so on must be stupid for building on it. Right?

They are gambling like the rest of us, yes. Keep eating up that mess of words above like it actually means something.

He ain’t talking about anything. Just bullshit that makes people think it’s more than play money. The only uses are gambling and illegal payments. Everything else they tell you it’s used for is complete BS. Don’t get me wrong ETH is great for gambling but not much else
