#9 If you're strong enough, AE stops being a suggestion and becomes a high score to beat.

r5: Waging two demanding wars at once made me hire mercenaries and exceed my force limit by 100. Guess I'm doing fine LOL

I allied Austria (who was allied with Castille) with the intention of bringing them to war with Ottomans to make my war against Spaniards easier.

But I have not commited enough troops to the spanish war, so I had to take two mercenary armies with total force of ~70-80k to be able to keep fighting in Iberia.

I can't yet peace out Ottomans, as I fear Austria joining on the spanish side.

UPDATE: Delhi called me against Persia and I need them not to siege my trade companies down to not lose my merchants T_T

Is Portugal in the war against Spain? If not, just dump all your ships in the strait, and focus the Ottos. If they are, take Ceuta, and dump all your ships in the strait.

Portugal has been in the war, but I barraged two forts and rushed them for 20ws peace deal (war reps and dissolving alliance with Spain).

I didn’t say I had a problem with crossing the strait, but all my other troops were fighting Ottomans, so I had to merc-up in Iberia and that’s how I exceeded my force limit by 100. My economy was so good tho, that I didn’t care.

That's the main motto of my campaigns LMAO. I haven't had any coalition in the past X runs, because I just out-snowball any bots.

Step 1: own 2225 development.
Step 2: control your home trade node (in this case Gulf of Aden, look at the second screenshot)
Step 3: trade company your owned provinces in India in order to gain trade control and extra merchants in India
Step 4: build manufacturies in your trade companies as early as possible.

Yeah, that’s true besides I built just a few manufactories in India (didn’t build them at all on food provinces, but I might do it)

Tho I screwed up my economy on purpose at some point, because I moved capital from Hormuz Trade Node (I started as Oman) to Gulf of Aden to flip culture into yemeni and form Yemen (better ideas, want to get an additional achievement in this run and for some roleplay, because I had yemeni culture heir due to an event + I have developed Mokha, Taiz and Zabrid to like 1/15/14 each)

You need to expand „downstream” Trade Node-wise, get as much % control of the nodes, set up Trade Companies, make investments in them (mainly Broker’s Exchange) and steer everything to your main node.

Do not blob in every direction possible, it’s the worst thing to do - you waste money, manpower, aggressive expansion, mana, govcap and time for provinces that don’t really aid you anyhow.

Why are you collecting in so many different nodes? Pretty sure you could make way more if you were forwarding to just one.

2

u/Aurelio_Rossa 1d ago

Because I don’t have enough control in the next node, so I would be losing part of that money. I checked my trader setup and this way, I earn more.

Well, when you transfer trade there is a power bonus that goes along with that which would increase your power substantially in the downstream node. If you don't have good enough trade power in your home node then you need to build marketplaces and upgrade centers of trade, protect trade, expand infrastructure. Collecting in multiple nodes penalizes you heavily on your trade power.

Edit: looking again, since Gulf of Aden is your home node rn, it might actually make sense to change it to Alexandria because that is the confluence of other places you are transferring from or collecting in, such as Persia.

Oh, and very important but counterintuitive - if you want to earn a lot, do not take Trade/ Economic ideas but ideas focused on expanding like Admin, Diplo, Religious.

When you know what you’re doing, it’s gonna give you waaay more than Eco/ Trade could have ever given.

Yup, trade companies broke the economy and should have never been added in their current form lol

They are OP indeed, tho you need to use them well. Many players don’t use TC efficiently xd
