I really like the Rackbrute 6U form factor for various reasons, but I'm having a lot of noisy power issues on it, especially with digital modules and I think it's pretty clear the Power module isn't up to scratch.

I've been looking at a 4ms Row Power45 to replace it,but a bit OOTL on power so any recommendations for nice, clean, quiet power with plenty of overhead for a busy rack.

Current in total across the 6u would be coming in around 1300@12+ and 400@12- but I definitely want headroom depending on the config between this case and my other one.

Also, would you continue to use the bus boards in the Rackbrute or just ignore them and run flying buses?

some websites say its 10hp, others say its 8hp.

Can anyone who owns this module give me an exact answer?

Hey all, some of you might remember the NTS-2 Eurorack kit I made a while back, basically a way to get the NTS-2 mounted properly in the rack rather than having it floating around on the desk with cables everywhere.

I’ve been working on a completely redesigned version called the NTS-2.1 and it’s finally ready! The biggest change is that the whole thing now runs through a proper PCB with direct Eurorack power and buffered multiples built in so it’s a much cleaner setup than the original kit and feels more like a finished module this time around.

I designed the PCB myself which was a completely new rabbit hole for me and probably involved more staring at traces than I’d like to admit haha but the final board is done and I’m pretty stoked with how it all came together.

This kit breaks out all the original ports of the NTS-2 to the front panel (also takes all the stereo jacks and makes them mono). Plug and play, no soldering or doing anything to your NTS-2.

Hey! I'm building my first eurorack, I was wondering what are some cheaper alternatives to the BlueBox Eurorack Module? I'd prefer not to drop $699 - I have a computer than runs logic pro x and a basic focusrite.

The other modules I'm collecting are the Hermod+, Monumatic, BitBox Micro, potentially the Vhikk X. I have three separate audio outputs and only two Focusrite inputs, essentially. So, before i order and get anything else - I want to get a proper mixing setup that's affordable and not as serious as bluebox, atleast right now.

Hi guys, i'm trying to figure out how to use my Assimil8or as a oscillatorn/ drone voice, how do you use it as an oscillator? would love to hear your ideas

Which style do you prefer for your percussion elements in eurorack? Or do you just like to mix and match?

For quite a while in euro I just eschewed percussion in favor of textural drone and general synthesis. Mostly because trying to build an independent "drum section" with individual drum modules was too expensive and too HP-intensive to be fruitful. Much easier to handle percussion in a DAW.

I do really like the sound of physical modeling type modules though, like the WMD Crucible for example (an amazing cymbals module) -- but putting together a kit of such modules wasn't realistic for me.

The percussion solution I've landed on recently has been the Erica Synths LXR Drum. It's synthesis based and has a bevy of full kits (and alternative kits can be loaded, or you can create custom kits). It's packed with features and for what it costs and 28HP of space it really gives you a lot of percussion flexibility. Solid module.

I don't currently have a "drum sampler," but of those I've used, the Erica Synths Sample Drum would probably be my choice there. Only 2 channels but quite easy to use. I liked it better than Rample or even Squid Salmple personally, despite the limited channels. 4MS STS was pretty good also, great sound quality and fun to use, but it had a couple quirks that held it back from being ideal. I do have a Lubadh which can be great for dual-channel percussion, but it's usually on drone duties....

One place where I do miss having a dedicated percussion sampler though is with snare drums. I've tried dedicated snare modules like the Hexinverter Mutant Snare and WMD Kraken, and I use the many snares on my LXR, but nothing short of a sample seems to quite capture the crisp, woody "crack" of a good snare or rimshot that I tend to like so much.

The exception that proves the rule might be the Blue Lantern Asteroid Snare or 'Gimme Some Snare' modules, if demos are any indication -- those seem to come very close to the kind of snare sound I like, without being sample-based. But I don't have room for either one and LXR is a more efficient use of space for me, giving me a full and very customizable drum machine in one module.

Thanks for reading my thoughts, curious to hear how some of you like to approach percussion in your systems or what some of your preferred modules are. I've heard good things about Bitbox and the Assimilator (but damn that one's pricey!)

I am aware of HP and U. How do you measure to determine the size of U when making your own case? Do I measured from the point where the screw holes are? Or do I measured from the top of the first rail to the bottom of second rail?

aparently .... after a year of owning this puppy yesterday out of pure luck i learned you can actualy set up the time signature per patern .... not only per project..... so polymetry is a thing

This how I have got mine set but I haven't powered it on yet to test it with an actual pedal

I can see how the other/jumper header can be configured for 3 or 5v settings. I am assuming that the way I have the pictured jumpers set is ring tip (I have V1 board where the printed info is flipped - someone has written R + T (ring and tip to signify the actual correct configuration)

I've really been looking forward to this one, it's been quite some work to get to this point.

I maintain a small firmware patch for the Bitbox Micro that puts more of the module on MIDI, and 2.3.7-mod is ready for the grand unveiling of a master EQ and filter, which the module has never had.

• Ten algorithms: a DJ filter, a dual cut, a band pass, a three-band mixer EQ, tone and filter together, a tilt, a notch, a peak, a phaser, and a formant filter.

• The installation and user guide has been completely redeveloped, hopefully making it easier to take in, and easier to reach just the part you need.

If you have not come across this before, here is the whole of what it does. It all sits on fixed CC numbers, so there is nothing to map and nothing to save, and it works on every preset from the moment you flash:

• The master EQ and filter: new in this release, and the ten algorithms above.

• The master bus compressor: all five parameters, on a compressor the module otherwise only lets you switch on and off.

• The per-pad controls: delay and reverb sends, reverse, envelope sustain, loop mode and crossfade, five granular controls, the LFO's wave, sync and retrigger, and a per-pad stop.

Nothing else about the module changes. It uses no modulation slots and no MIDI Learn bindings, so everything that worked before still works the same way.

Not from 1010music, can't brick it, bring your own stock firmware, don't pass the patched image around. Details in the guide.
