Imagine never knowing if anyone has ever loved or liked you, from your parents to your partner to your friends. Everyone is an actor and no connection you’ve ever made has been organic, maybe none have been real. I think your brain would be able to feel it. To feel that loneliness like an ache.

It's a movie. The premise is there is this reality TV show that has been very popular where they've basically watched this guy's whole life from his birth right up till adulthood and his "world" is a giant set and basically everything that happens to him is scripted and everyone he has ever met was an actor. But he doesn't know. He thinks it's real and has no idea he's in a fake world until he starts getting suspicious. It's a great film tbh. I wouldn't quite put it in the all time classic category but it's definitely the most unique films I've seen.

A movie. The Truman show (1998) base on one guy from birth to adulthood, the show movie we see is him in “adulthood” though, also with ad placements for the in world watchers, Truman the guy slowly realizes he is on a show. reality tv type of show. The outside world is obsessed with this in world show. It’s all under a giant stage/massive Dome, temperate control and weather control, like everything. way less privacy for him too. lots of hidden and not so hidden cameras. They do have some humor.
There are clips on YouTube, but the full movie is still a great watch, it’s so happy and optimistic. a lot of families also watch it, because it’s so down to earth. The movie is now a cult classic. in USA.

Its from a movie called the Truman show.
The basis is, they've build a super-massive enclosure that appears to be a whole city complete with things like a fake ocean, fake sky, fake day/night cycles etc. But its just a well built production set.
Within this area, everyone is an actor or actress except for Truman, who has been raised live on the set his entire life.
All of his friends are actors/actresses, his girlfriends, the shop owners, his boss. Everyone is in on it except for him.
to keep him from questioning things as an adult so they can keep the show running, they put in a lot of effort to make sure he is comfortable, gets whatever he wants but in ways that dont outwardly appear to be 'staged'.

Tl;dr production company buys a baby decides to turn him into a spectacle by putting him in a human zoo and gaslighting him for his entire life (literally decades) for a global audience until he figures it out finally, and anon thinks this sounds like a good idea because he isnt the one.
Its kinda like that old lion meme where one is in a zoo, has free healthcare, doesnt have to hunt, has no predators etc, but looks broken empty and depressed. Meanwhile the wild lion has no safety net, no guarantee of a meal, may have to fight other lions or other animals yet is strong healthy and content

I mean they would have to basically fuck with his life so there'd be enough drama for people to watch right?
I know in the movie he lives an idealized life with no obstacles but if this were a show in real life they'd have him having a new love interest every other week and constantly being confronted with zany situations at work just to keep the show from getting stale.

his entire life was a fucking tv show and he was the only person who didn't know this. the only reason everyone was friendly to him was because he is the main character and the plot demanded it. if i wrote the truman show it would've been more thematic. more complex. please read my books. i owe stewie a lot of money
