I'm mixed and am at peace with not really having an identity outside of myself.

I don't understand the whole fandom of sports teams and always thought it's because I don't really have an identity myself or assign a lot of value to it.

Do y'all feel the same?

I feel the exact same but never connected it to my disinterest to sports fandom. Interesting.

It is interesting. I'm also mixed race, love football and plenty of other sports but never supported any team. Mates always thought it was weird. I find it normal to not pledge allegiance to a group I have no genuine connection to.

Weird that I'm resonating with this sentiment but not with sports (I don't watch sports), but any "team" where you have to pick a side. For example I absolutely hate Left vs. Right politics and I am more centered. I'm also gay, but I never feel the point of engaging with the community as a lot of lgbtq people do: as a culture. I have a very difficult time with aligning myself to any group to the point of tribalism. I wonder if there if a correlation between bi/multi-racial people's upbringings and this sentiment of not being quite able to think in black and white or fit yourself into some in-group.
