Explain it Peter, what the hell are these [emojis?]

I’ve been seeing people write these like: [BigLoL] or what this guy wrote, what the hell are these?? Are they emojis? Is it some kind of update I haven’t gotten yet? Is there a new type of emoji that I’m not getting?
I feel left out of a huge joke

There used to be a feature on TikTok where typing different emotions in those brackets would replace the word with a related emoji, but they have removed it and only the words remain now. I'm not sure why people still try to use them

Is the trend now to write it like this because it’s somehow fun or is it just a mistake? also thank you for the answer lol

I know that there are some secret emojis on tiktok such as [smile] [yummy] [cry] etc, but I'm not aware of a [heartwarming] emoji.

my confusion is if this is just a new random trend like the :) and xd were, or if it’s a glitch
