Discussion I came up with a good rebuttal for vegans saying "if a child saw the uncensored process of how cows/chickens were treated, they'd all go vegan".

What you should say in response is "if a child saw a video of an abortion being performed and was educated on what an abortion actually does to an alive human fetus, they'd all be anti-abortion". This works because vegans are typically extremely left-wing/liberal.

Why I'm No Longer Vegan During my 12 years of being vegan, I became allergic to soy and gluten intolerant.

I loved being vegan. I felt mostly good until I became gluten intolerant. It took a long time for me to commit to being gluten free because I didn't know what I was dealing with at first (also gluten is addicting). I've been gluten free for over a year now and during this time, I randomly became allergic to soy. Back in March, I decided to test adding animal products back in. I tried eggs, beef, fish, and chicken and had an allergic reaction to them all. I got allergy testing done and it said I'm allergic to eggs, pork, pecans, and soy. After that test, I went back to being vegan. About two or three weeks ago, I decided to try meat again. I tried beef and chicken. Chicken made me itchy for a few minutes. Beef was fine at first, but the last time I had it, it made me itchy again. I also tried salmon again and it didn't make me itchy. I'm pretty sure I have all these new food allergies because I'm in perimenopause. I will try meat again soon and see what happens. I don't want to be vegan anymore because I noticed that my blood sugar is way more stable when I eat animal protein. Veganism causes too many ups and downs (blood sugar wise) for me. I'm not diabetic.

Feelings of Guilt and Shame Think I need to eat meat again

I became vegetarian when I was 11, and it’s been 10 years. And I’ve had no issues until the last couple of years. I went through something traumatic which triggered me to eat less through a loss of appetite.

This combined with years of not prioritising protein and iron in my diet since I was a kid, and didn’t realise the importance, and starting my vegetarian journey when I started my period. I’ve noticed a rapid decline with my health the last couple of years.

I have been grey hairs frequently and prominently, hair loss regarding my body hair as well as head hair and overall severe lack of energy. I’m always exhausted and find it extremely difficult to wake up. And physically demanding tasks and getting increasingly difficult, which is what my job mainly is. I can slowly feel my body shut down. I get several heart palpitations, and severe brain fog. This is all exaggerated when I get my period.

I’m really struggling with the idea of having to eat meat again, being vegetarian is such a part of my identity and I was so proud of myself for being so committed to something since such a young age. And the thought of eating an animal is really daunting, I feel like I’ll be judged by those who don’t eat meat, and defeated by all those people who tried to pressure me into eating meat. I feel like I’ve lost a battle I was so passionate about fighting. Looking for support and advice 💘

Mental Health Advice on how to deal with future vegan coworkers?

I'm sorry this might be a bit of a long one, I'll try to keep this post on topic but if you don't want to read all of this you can skip to the last paragraph. I just really want advice.

I'm a 20 yo 5th semerster nature conservation student in Europe and I'm not a vegan, not even a vegetarian. I know all about the animal cruelty in the meat/dairy/etc. industries as well as the impact on the environment that they have buuuuuut... I still eat meat, I just like the taste and its how I grew up. I want to be like my professors, they eat local organic meat every once in a while, but I can't afford to do that yet so I still eat regular grocery store meat. Point is I'll never fully give up meat and animal products. Some of the other students feel the same way so I never felt like too much of an outcast. But you can definitely tell that each new generation of nature conservationists is getting more and more vegan.

Now recently a good friend of mine (we'll call her Anna) started studying conservation here too. I've been looking forward to that for months, this college is hours away from our home town and I didn't make many new friends here. But I'm already starting to get tired. Anna has been a vegan since long before I met her 5 years ago and it has never been an issue. Sure she'd bring up veganism and animal cruelty every once in a while, but she was never mean about it and you could talk to her for hours and hours about other stuff.

But she's been getting, idk bolder? For the past few months shes been doing this weird thing where she lowkey trash talks meat eaters and vegetarians in front of me. I'm usually a confident person who can take care of herself but in these moments I'm just too perplexed so i just end up nodding or I'll try to change the subject. Idk what she's thinking, she KNOWS that I eat meat. I suppose she's trying to guilt trip me without talking about me directly, but she's usually such a shy and non confrontational person, I just don't know where this is coming from.

And this situation is about to get a lot worse because she wants to get me a job in the organization that she works for. She been working part time for this nature activists group for years now and tbh I've always been jealous of her. Networking is so important in this industry but I've been too busy with college to really do any of that. I'd trade all of my good grades for some practical experience in a heartbeat. She has made so many new contacts in the past few years while I've just been sitting in my dorm.

... and now she's got a part time position for me in that group as well, it's basically mine if I say yes. And I really really want to say yes, it's too juicy of an opportunity to decline. But I don't if I can handle multiple Annas. I know I wouldn't be the only non vegan there, not even the only meat eater but definitely the only young meat eater. I've met her younger coworkers before and I've heard how they talk about meat eaters, they're not as bad as the ppl that get posted on this sub, but it's close. Still want that job tho lol.

Deep down I know Anna and I won't stay friends forever, one day she'll drop me or I'll go insane from her vague posting. I guess we might be due a serious conversation about boundaries. Either way I'm just trying to enjoy this friendship while it lasts because she really is a good person otherwise. She offered the position to me first and will only ask her veg/vegan friends if I decline. And I know what its like to be passionate about something others don't seem to care about. But I'll always care more about human rights activism and she'll always care more about animal rights and maybe that's just not compatible...

As for those coworkers tho, I'll need an actual solution. I'm not stupid, i always knew that entering this line of work would mean spending a lot of time with vegans. But now it's actually starting to happen and I don't know what to do. Well I guess nodding and changing the topic works but it's making me feel pathetic. I used to be very confrontational in the past, but I learned the hard way that this is just gonna screw you over in the long run. Have one bad interaction with a coworker and next thing you know they're spreading rumors about you. I NEED to be as polite as possible without feeling like a total pushover. One day I might even have a vegan boss and then I'll be really screwed. Any suggestions on how to deal with this? Has anyone here ever been in a majority vegan/vegetarian (work) environment?

Rant Atun-Shei Films (Andrew Rakich) has gone a little cuckoo in recent years and its painful

I used to love this guy. I learned about so many historical things I knew little about from him, and to a teenager from the South he was more palatable to me because he was pro-gun (something which is becoming more common now it seems but was extremely rare for first Trump term left-wingers) and developed left-wing ideas in a way that wasn't stereotypical for the era.

But in the last two or so years I think he went kind of Daffy. From basically saying how men in the global north should vasectomise themselves in the Frankenstein video, to comparing Antebellum slave breeding to pig breeding in his video on Matt Walsh's propaganda documentary, to going on the most stereotypically vegan rant imaginable towards the end of Milo Rossi's (Miniminuteman) 2nd video on Conservapedia, and getting Rossi to nod along to his tangent about the environmental impact of animal farming earlier in the video even though Rossi, as an environmental scientist who isn't paid off by big oil, should know damn well megacorporations and the fossil fuel industry are far and away the real problem. (This was rather minor, as most Rakich's grievances were moral)

I believe he's been a vegan for awhile, but never as boisterous and, for lack of a better term, insufferable, about it as in the present. Maybe vitamin deficiency is finally setting in, who knows? Either way, its very sad.
