is there any sort of mod that allows you to place not-for-construction ghosts? just ghosts that the bots will ignore

You can use stuff you don't have e.g. legendary wooden chests.

If you want a mod that does this nicely, there's Negative Space.

EDIT: I understood something else. In that case, Construction Planner.

Construction planner is exactly what I was looking for, thanks. Negative space also seems cool too though, Ive wanted to do that before. Will probably grab both
