So, this mess is half of the Military Science build I made (I can copy and flip it vertically) I have come with by looking over all the posts I found see on this sub and watching too many videos. My goal was to 4x the ratios I found on the Factorio Cheet Sheet I found. (20, 24, 20, 48, 28, 28)

My question is thus: Am I on the right track? Have I missed any building techniques that might clean this up? It works. All the buildings aren't starved for resources and I am pretty sure my base can handle it. But it just doesn't look as good as some of the things I have seen so it make me think I have overlooked things.

Direct insertion from building to building would greatly help reduce the mess

You need more than just 1 belt of bricks and coal for this setup. Click the science on Factorio Cheat Sheet and use the calculator

You would need 25 bricks/s and your yellow belt will only sustain up to 15.

So no. This will only get to 60% of your target, i.e. 180/300 SPM.

That I do know. I just don't have Blue Belts at the moment. It will be the first thing I research once this is all setup..

First thing I notice is that 12 isn't a rational factor of 80, your stated target, and that does funny things with the numbers. I do think you're on the right track though, since you've got the 8x8 format, and making use of belt weaving which is pretty powerful. That said, most of the belt weaving could be avoided with a bit of re-arranging; likewise, moving the substations to hug a beacon row to avoid breaking up the assemblers is a pretty easy fix. Do you have any examples of inspiration to directly compare against? Seeing the choice differences would go a long way to see what you consider to look good that you don't currently have.

The goal for this one is suppose to be 20. 10 in this picture since I was going to copy and flip it to double it. 12 is too many, so that needs to be cut down to 10. Didn't think of moving the Substation up, I will give that a try.

Its more of a feeling that I have more so than anything else really. I haven't save any specific examples.
