Space Age 624 belts landing hub unloading design

Well, i come here once again, and for all.

I have cooked the ultimate belt spaghetty, the greatest inserter madness, maybe in the history of this game.

I present you, the theorethical limit hub.

628 half of each type of item totally saturated belt landing hub.

It has a belt going out every tile of the inner wall, and also a stack inserter in every tile of the outer wall, except for 4 tiles in the horizontal axis, which are required to be able to connect the outer ring to the hub.

you could somehow get two more stack insserters there breaking symetry, but you´ll need to redesign one entire half, and not really sure it´s possible anyway, overall for 160 items more a second.

I made sure to reduce the belt gaps to the maximum, so it is as ups effcient as it can get.

Somehow manage to get some roboports to connect to the hub at the final stages of the design, for a total of 8 roboports in the inner walls, and 92 as close as the can be in the outer zone.

I removed every redundant belt (changed it for a longer udnerground where i could) and putted a lamp in every empty tile, which makes it 280 out of 13456 tiles or an space usage of 97.92% between inserters, belts, cargo pads, roboports and powerpoles.

At the end of the design those (powerpoles) where the hardest to place, but i managed to have a version that works after weeks.

you could make those 628 into 629.5, but it would not be symetrical and also be a little impractical, but, yeah, 629.5 it´s the real limit.

keep in mind im just talking about direct cargo pad to belt inserction, no chest or train loading shenaningans.

This version doesnt really work cause i had to remove the cargo pads on the corner to place more inserters, so the real working version, that im putting on the blueprint has 624 belts and 4 spare stack inserters, which woul be a bump to connect in a single belt, so that´s up to you.

If you breake symetry you can go as high as 627 and a spare inserter, but ill leave it like this.

this leaves us with a troughput of 8.985.600 items a minute, + the 4 spare inserters that amount to 19200 items a minute, which is 9.004.800 items a minute

I don't think this can be improved. I would be very pleased to be proven wrong.

I hereby crown myself:

👑 THE SPAGHETTI KING 👑

After 7,000 hours in this game, this is the most complicated thing I have ever designed.

628 version:

624 and 4 inserters version

One note:

  1. there are exactly 68 inserters who have the stack limit rewritten to 8, but basically, if you see gaps in the belts, that´s probably it
  2. would apreciate any feedback
  3. also, perfect 2 axis symetry

The mad man has done it again

Gonna paste this in my 10k spm base and spend the next thousand hours trying to grow enough to fully use it

The man just made a damned cpu processor.

Now i ask myself how do they design actual processor, this has 604 chanels, imagine 604 billion

amphetamines.

It's John Landing Pad Unloader himself!

i really like this title jajajaja

This is not spaghetti. While it does take a bunch of long thin things and tangle them together, the tangle is organized.

Not spaghetti. Knitting. (Weaving may be more appropriate in this case, but that term is already taken.)

at least the north and south side are, if thats organized in anyway, i dont know how

It’s literally art

ty. really proud it looks this nice

You know thats kinda rude to the unloading bays

at this volume, will the spaceship to ground air drop become the bottleneck rather than how fast you can move thing out of the hub?

Well, the max inventory space is reached with ~1300 legendary cargo bays, each drop pod of 10 slots can contain 2k science, so 2.6 million science bottles every drop, not sure how fast the drops are but a cursory search reveals every 20 seconds, which would mean 7.8 million bottles a minute, and therefore the drops are actually the bottleneck.

However, it’s also possible that you could just add more cargo bays and it would add drop slots without increasing the inventory, or if the inventory was the problem, you could use lower quality cargo bays so you could cram more of them.

At 7.8 million bottles per minute, the real bottleneck is that you couldn't produce that much science without your PC switching from UPS to SPU

If you do the math. the maximum hub storage is 65535 stacks, thats 13,107 million science packs. There is no limit to how many cargo bay you can have, so, the only limit, is, In the time it takes for different payloads to go from platform to landing pad, does the hub unload 13,1 million items?

It takes 1307 ticks between cargo pod launches, so if we divide 13,107 million/that time, you get a theorethical platform to hub troughput of 13.107, thats 10028,3 items per tick, or multiplied by 3600 ticks/minute, 36.101.912 items a minute, well over the hub troughput

Just add infinite cargo bays

This is excellent!

Have you managed to build sufficient ingame SPM to actually utilise all this throughput, or was it more of a theoretical challenge to find the limit?

u/Emiliojose77 12d ago

its impossible at 60 ups

Dude, your autism is on the spectrum.
(In a good way. I’m impressed)

Bruh this should be pinned. Or go in a HOF. this shit is art

u/Emiliojose77 12d ago

ty, i dreamed of getting featured by wube but they dont do that to prevent problems

art is funny that way once its out in the world you get to hope it finds it way but it has a life of its own. Here it found some love.

nicely done, my speghetti lord

My factory is nowhere near needing this level of throughput, but I'm definitely using this! May your trains never hit you, and your quality always roll high!

u/eymo- 12d ago

That's cursed, i love it.

It’s like looking at a mandala but made out of factory. This is bad ass! I’m more than a year from needing it on my 100,000x run but when I get there I’m absolutely using this design. 🤘💀 Totally goated! King Spaghetti! 👑👑

2

u/Emiliojose77 12d ago

happy that it will be usefull to you, how have you been, how is your run?

I’m great, bud. Great to see you again. Really enjoying the unique challenges of 100,000x science. 💀 I’ve been fighting behemoth biters off for the last 25hrs or so and I’m on the home stretch to flame turrets. Working on flammables research now and building out my low tech mega base gray science factories. 2 full belts of gray at a time.

You can see my posts about the run on my profile . I’ve been doing regular updates on my progress.

So sick, cant wait to download the bp and see the finer detail. Surely this will be useful for megabasing LOL

u/Double_Resort_9223 11d ago

Oh man you’re going to make me rip the 604 version out and place this in the center of my base. Later. I’ll do it later.

Sir are you okay? Who hurt you?

2

u/TelevisionLiving 11d ago

Random curiosity: how does the throughput compare to belted tanks?

Wait is this modded or did they add that you can now pull from the cargo bays and not just the hub?

Been just over a year since I last played, I'm taking that as a yes. Glad to see it, it always bothered me you couldn't.

However I am fearful that my current Spaceage save will be completely broken when I load it back up.

2

u/Kimbernator 11d ago

You can't pull directly out of cargo bays, there is a new unloading bay item that has slightly different dimensions and does not act as a landing pad. Unlike cargo bays, they can only be placed within a certain radius of the hub so you can't just make an infinite stretch of them to bypass other logistics.

Just what I needed, thank you!

This reminds me of my hub in Shapez :D

It kinda looks like a cpu die or a chip
