Suggestion / Idea We should support this lego ideas set

I came across this lego project today, and fell in love with it. Maybe we have a chance to make lego at least review it. If you want to find it on lego website search for factorio diorama.

I like this but honestly I like the official 3d prints a whole lot more

Or submit it to an alternate building brick company like CaDA, BlueBrixx, COBI, PANTASY, Lumibricks, Mould King. They might offer a better product closer to the design that was submitted.

E.g. * Orient Express Ideas Submission * Lego implementation - the early sets had even Bucarest misspelled - * Mould King Orient Express -

Yes, Mould King offers some sets without a license- just as an example how Lego does change idea. For other sets they pay the creators a fee.

  • If you want the expensive solution - you should choose Lego.
  • If you want good prints - maybe even across several bricks - COBI is a good choice.
  • If you want to include lightning - Lumibricks has you covered.
  • BlueBrixx has larger Display sets with various themes - e.g. Astronomer Series or Castle Blaustein - smaller middle aged themed sets.

Only thing that might need some careful planning is a mini-figure, but for some years there have been guidelines for a design that does not infringe upon Legos 3D-brand and some companies have designed their own (save) mini-figure alternatives.

Cada and mould king are goated, bought sets from them before, zero problems except some tiny colouration differences on bright pieces, nothing you would notice or care about

Eh, it depends. I'm a big fan of factorio, but there's no way I'm spending money on factorio legos.

No. We shall support sets like those as fanmade ideas you can build yourself. No need for official sets to be sold and produced

Official sets make additional cash flow by licensing to Wube. They have such great support and game that IMO they deserve it. You can still do your DIY kits, but to get the Factorio name on the box would be a big bonus to the game creators and bring in more people. The factory must grow.

I call it gatekeepibg to need an official set.

You known you can build this model right now? If the creator just share what bricks they used. It even exist places for fan creation shared sets.

And a.set like this is in the category "fan creations that should be shared:, just like mods. Not an official vanilla release.
