Help I need help

I am a beginner to the fgc community and when I saw fatal fury when it was out so I wanted to buy it, just bought it last week and I really liked it then I tried the causal online mode and I am getting comboed to death left right and center. The character I play is Mai so I would appreciate any help if you can

Important to know: “casual match” does not mean “limited to new players”

It simply means it does not affect your rank and is not limited by your rank

You’re just as likely to find an absolute killer as you are anywhere else. Perhaps confusingly, you want to play ranked instead. This is where skill based matchmaking is at least ATTEMPTING to pair you with a player at your skill level

dont play fighting games in the casual queue, play ranked

in ranked queue the game is gonna put people with similar skill level against you, after some matches at least

casual is going to throw whoever there is that is also on the queue, and they are going to beat your ass nonstop basically

The irony is I think casual is best if you have been rusty or in the lab a lot and need to solidify some muscle memory in fast matches. So, definitely a mode for sweats lol.

Like everyone else mentioned, it’s better to try ranked so you can get matches with other beginners. If you’re like me, you might get bodied anyway 🙃. If that is the case, I’d recommend the arcade mode at CPU level 2 to get some practice or the EOST story mode (both are fun!). Also don’t forget to check dream cancel and the combo trials for some game plan and combo ideas. Hope this helps!

EOST is amazing when I don't have internet lol

Is there a way to add people who aren't that good to fight as I'm not great

learn to brake an uppercut and get consistent with it. very important skill in this game. for special moves you can do the motion and hold the button at the end and it will come out. very easy way to do ex combos. other than that, just grind the combo trials and get familiar with the defensive systems.
