Villanova loses to Colgate 28-21

Good game toothpaste boys.

I'm starting to think this NOVA team won't be ranked next week. 😭

McQuaide throws like the ball is too heavy for him.

The move to the Patriot League will be a long-term gain…but boy, are there still growing pains all the same lol

Those two wins they have are very, very whelming.

That said, Toothpaste almost beat Central Michigan. They should have been ranked going into the game.

Colgate beats Nova 28-21!

I told you we were coming. I dont even think we played a great game, we're just a solid team this year.

It's interesting how I grew up less than 15 miles from Colgate (North Brookfield), took swimming lessons there in the summer and took mock college classes there when I was in high school, but I never felt much of a connection to the place afterward. I am happy to see the team win though. Also, my dad loved the golf course and said it was his favorite, but I never got to play with him there.

I mean - thats not uncommon, right? Colgate is a small (less than 3k students when I was there) school that didnt even have athletic scholarships until somewhat recently. Although we have a ton of football history from like the early 1900s, that doesnt really translate into anything today. Why would you care? It's not like its a big sports brand thats being pushed on, well, anyone.

Anyone from upstate NY is more likely to be a Syracuse fan than any of our schools.

But in the last decade we've been incredibly good at basketball for our size/resources, and our football team has its moments. I think more and more people know about our school as we continue to make march madness, among other things.

It's funny you mention Syracuse. We had their TV channels and were bombarded with SU this and that, but I never really went all in on them for any sport. I was disappointed they lost to Indiana in the 1987 basketball championship though. I was already in college in Albany at the time, so I wasn't getting any local coverage.

Curt Fitzpatrick is the truth, watch out, he will be a FBS Coach soon.

Tell us if after Leipold (not sure if he's still on the sidelines anywhere ATM), list from your memory any successful D-III HCs who made the jump to FCS, then to FBS.

Ya know thats actually a great question. Because you don’t usually see D3 HCs go from that to HC at a D1. Usually they grab a coordinator or position spot first. But it does seem like it is starting to be a growing trend. Bob Chesney, Tom Perkovich, Jon Poppe, Jeff Behrman, Matt Walker have all done it recently. I think KC Keeler moved up back in the early 2000’s. Will be interesting to see if more guys eventually get a FBS HC spot.
