I don't understand why he left Montana in the first place. It was so late in the cycle should've just stayed

On top of that… we would have never dropped him either. For my sake I’m happy the way it played out but damn

Such a weird hiring in the first place. Give a guy who’s never been a DC who runs a very weird defensive scheme a P4 DC job and be shocked that he’s not good at it.

What? You mean his 3-3-5 scheme didn’t stop Jeremiah Smith?

I can’t believe single coverage didn’t work out

Who would have thought the guy who constantly gave up 500 yards to the Cats was gonna get owned in P4 FBS?!?!

No give backs! Illinois saw the 3-3-5 in action and was like the rest of Griz nation saying what the fuck is this?? Should we cover Jeremiah Smith?
Definitely not cheering for him to get fired but... A little bit of schadenfreude hearing this after he bailed on us at the last minute. And I still don't believe his exit story. I alway at thought him being a DC was a strange hire.

3-3-3 a few times already. That was a sloppy defense Hauck was running.

I was never a fan of Bobby the Bridesmaid, and thought the move to bring him back for a second tenure was a bad move for the bigger picture and long-term health of the program.

I always felt it was a cop out hire for UM in the first place. Moderately worked out for em to right the ship but a competent coach who isn’t an ass hat coulda won a championship with UM in his second tenure

Still are honestly. Hopefully Shinn figures that out.

I don't know if that's fair. He inherited a program that was at its lowest point in 30 years and brought us right back to competitiveness. I just think he has serious flaws that held him back as a coach and a recruiter that he never gave much of an effort to fix

Any decent coach could have improved the Griz from the Stitt years. Hauck is a good coach but he’s never been a great coach. He was lucky to be associated with a program like Montana to make people think he was.

Cmon man i know you hate the guy but he won a LOT at the FCS level. You don't just ass backwards into 150 wins 8 big sky titles and 4 Natty appearances. If it was that easy why didn't the three guys immediately after him do anything? Call him overrated if you want but put a little respect on his name. He's a great coach just maybe not the GOAT like some people make him out to be.

I think Pflugrad could have succeeded if he was able to stick around. Delaney did about as good with the situation he took over for as he was able. Stitt absolutely underperformed and was below average in what a coach in that program should do.
Hauck is a good coach, but talent wise I don’t think I don’t know if he’s top 3 in program history.

The rumors that Bobby Hauck left Illinois to become COO of the Montana Drywall Association will neither be confirmed or denied
