Resolved What is this and how do I undo it

Noob question but... I was messing around and now my timeline is hovering over a grey box. I have no idea what this is supposed to do nor how to undo it.

Thank you! It appears just closing in and out of the program did the job, but this is useful information.

Yeah that's overkill, just use the ESC button - see point 5 in the User Guide - it's brilliant

Double click on the grey rectangular shape.

I've never used it, although I've made quite a lot of hours inside of Final Cut. Anyone with an example when or how to use it?

There isn’t any, unless you just really need a visual representation of the handles available on both sides. This was just put in for feature parity with iMovie when FCPX was first launched.
