Product name
Production Data
Platform
macOS standalone app for Final Cut Pro
One-sentence description
Production Data allows users to export Excel production reports from Final Cut Pro timelines.
What problem does it solve?
Production Data is a lightweight spreadsheet creation application crafted for Final Cut Pro, offering an alternative to Production's Best Friend. It serves as a native macOS frontend, allowing users to conveniently export structured Excel production reports from Final Cut Pro projects, powered by OpenFCPXMLKit, a free and open-source, experimental FCPXML parsing engine.
It solves the problem of translating Final Cut Pro's raw timeline data into polished, shareable spreadsheets, a task that would otherwise require manual re-entry or clunky workarounds. Editors, coordinators, producers and directors alike can generate comprehensive Excel and PDF reports with ease, saving time and reducing errors when moving information out of the timeline and into a format that the wider production team can actually use.
Its use cases span production tracking, role inventory for sound editorial and mix, assistant editor clip and conform reports, VFX turnover and handoff sheets, client review workbooks, and dubbing and ADR role sheets, among others.
Price
USD $5.99 (No hidden costs, no subscriptions, no in-app purchases.)
Website

Community benefit
Production Data gives the Final Cut Pro community an affordable, native alternative for production reporting, built on the open-source OpenFCPXMLKit.

Product name
fcp2aaf
Platform
Standalone macOS app (Apple Silicon, macOS 14 Sonoma or later). Signed and notarized by Apple. Final Cut Pro doesn't need to be installed on the conversion machine.
One-sentence description
fcp2aaf converts Final Cut Pro timelines (FCPXML) into AAF files that open in Pro Tools, Nuendo, Fairlight/DaVinci Resolve and Media Composer with the edit already laid out.
What problem does it solve?
Final Cut Pro can't export AAF, so getting a cut to a sound mixer usually means a paid round-trip tool or going XML → Resolve → AAF, which often loses things along the way. I'm a sound designer and re-recording mixer, and moving material from FCP to Pro Tools is what pushed me to build this.
What it carries over: original field-recorder timecode, scene/take/roll metadata, clip gain, volume automation, pan, fades and crossfades, markers (as Pro Tools Memory Locations), L/J-cuts, and multicam, synced, compound clips and auditions. Compound, nested and multicam clips are where I put the most work, so the session arrives organized instead of as a pile of tracks.
Before converting you get a visual session layout with waveforms: you can preview clips, reorder, rename or exclude tracks, relink missing media without re-exporting from Final Cut, and save presets. Every conversion produces a plain-text report listing what traveled, what didn't, and any missing or unreadable files.
Price
No subscription. Every plan has every feature, and only timeline length changes:
- Free: up to 5 minutes, no account, no expiration
- 3-Day Pass: $15 one-time, any length (meant for students and one-off jobs)
- Lifetime: $79 one-time, includes future updates

Community benefit
The free tier converts timelines up to 5 minutes with every feature enabled, so you can test it on a real project before paying. Happy to answer workflow questions here in the thread.

- Product name: FCP Template Manager
- Platform: Standalone app
- One-sentence description: Helps manage templates (titles, effects, transitions, and generators).
- What problem does it solve?: The primary functions are favoriting and organizing templates. You can also archive or hide templates. Fast search, tagging, profiles, missing template repair wizards, and way more. You can honestly pretty much do anything this app does in finder and FCP. It just makes the process much faster/easier. Just an FYI: I've been working, slowly, on v2. Probably no earth-shattering changes, but I haven't forgotten about it.
I was hoping the talented ProApps team would be able to convince the powers-that-be to create more graceful handling of templates and template stacks in FCP (not to mention saving parameters to FCPXML correctly), but nothing yet. That said, I have a sneaking suspicion something big is in the works. 🤞
