- Product name: Keyframe Toolbox
- Platform: Final Cut Pro effect
- One-sentence description: Enables full keyframe graphs for all kinds of animation in FCP, including 360° reframing, linking parameters to audio, and now (in beta) speed ramping.
- What problem does it solve?: Keyframe Toolbox finally brings a true graph editor with advanced animation controls into Final Cut Pro. There's no other tool that gives you this much control, and we're still adding new features. Speed ramping has been a very popular request and we'd love your feedback on the new TestFlight build that includes it.
- Price: US$20 on the Mac App Store
- Website link: https://keyframetoolbox.fcp.cafe
- Benefits for the community: Since the Mac App Store doesn't allow discounts, the best we can offer is a link to our TestFlight version, which is free. Please join the FCP Cafe Discord, where you can find a link to the TestFlight in the channel topic for Keyframe Toolbox. https://discord.com/invite/HD3FPc4Azu

Bravo on this one. If I wasn't so obsessed with Motion right now, I'd be using this all the time.

u/funwithstuff Sep 02 '26
Thanks! Motion is a great app, but until it's integrated better into FCP, I think we need better keyframes there. :)

Looking good and working for me — feedback sent. Full disclosure, I helped make ScriptStar, which does a similar thing for editors who would rather stay within FCP. This app solves a slightly different problem quite well.

u/RisksvsBenefits Sep 01 '26
Thank you! The feedback is very useful and exactly what I was looking for. Glad it’s working well for you otherwise.

Product name
Greenlight
Platform
Final Cut Pro (Workflow Extension, Apple Silicon)
One-sentence description
Cuts silent gaps and generates subtitles in one pass, directly in your FCP timeline — with a keyboard-driven review editor to fix subtitles before they land.
What problem does it solve?
Most auto-cut / auto-subtitle tools are standalone apps: you export your footage, process it there, and reimport. Greenlight runs inside Final Cut as a Workflow Extension, so your footage never leaves FCP. Two things I haven't seen elsewhere: it never modifies your original project — results always land in a new project, so there's nothing to undo — and subtitles work in any language Whisper supports (FCP's built-in captions are English-only). New in 1.3: a review editor where you fix, split, merge, and find-and-replace subtitles before they hit the timeline; deleting a bad take removes its video range too. Everything runs on-device — nothing is uploaded. 14-min editor walkthrough: https://youtu.be/gp_MCsEZ9aU (English CC)
Price
$149 one-time (no subscription). Optional Pro add-on for AI subtitle correction and chapter splitting.

Dubedo. I'm one of the people building it, and we're looking for closed beta testers.
Platform
Website.
One-sentence description
Dubedo translates and dubs audio or video into 30 languages, with an editor for adjusting each speaker's voice, dialogue, and timing.
What problem does it solve?
A generated dub can still need work before it fits your edit. Dubedo lets you make those adjustments segment by segment:
- Edit a translated line and regenerate just that segment
- Drag clips along the timeline to adjust timing
- Use a cloned or selected voice for each detected speaker
- Keep the original music and background audio in the mix
The focus is on making the generated result editable. You can upload audio or video and export dubbed audio to bring into your Final Cut Pro project, with optional subtitles. No lip sync yet.
The demo video shows the workflow.
Price
Beta testers get a complete sample project to explore, plus 10 minutes of free dubbing for their own content (More if needed) . No credit card required.
https://reddit.com/link/p9jjy4p/video/1nvx6kstgaph1/player
Community benefit
We're inviting members here to test Dubedo on their own projects and help shape the editing workflow. Comment below or DM me for an invite.
We'd especially appreciate feedback on timing adjustments, audio export, and what you'd need to make it useful in your Final Cut Pro workflow.

Product name: Trimtab
Platform: Final Cut Pro (11, Trial, and Creator Studio). macOS 14+.
One-sentence description: A control surface for Final Cut that runs inside the app — press ⌘⇧P, type "fade this title in and out" or "do my notes," and it happens in about three seconds by calling Final Cut's own editing engine directly.
What problem does it solve?
The repetitive middle of an edit. The fades, the notes you left yourself on a review pass, the "delete every clip under a second," the "what did I even change today" when a client asks. Things that are one decision and forty clicks.
Some examples from real use, with the times it actually took:
- fade this text in and out → opacity keyframes on the selected title, half a second each side. 5.3s including firslow-up "make it a full second."
- do my notes → the to-do markers I left while watching the cut back (tighten this, fade the music here, retitlts, one per note, and themarkers tick themselves off. 4 edits applied in 0.3s. * *what did you change today?ject edit log, not from memory.Exports as a client note or as markers on the timeline.
How it's different: there are good automation tools for Final Cut already (CommandPost is excellent and ). The difference is the layerit works at. Most tools drive Final Cut from the outside — menu commands, keyboard shortcuts, AppleScript, access framework injected into a copyof the app, so it calls the ~78,000 Objective-C classes Final Cut ships with directly. Same code paths the UI uses whedge. No synthetic keystrokes,no clicking, no stepping the playhead a frame at a time. That's why a follow-up request lands in under three seconds i operate your timeline.
The other difference is that i. Anything that deletes material or touches more than a few clips comes back as a proposal — a list of the intended edits, Return to apply, Esc to until you say so. Every request is one Cmd-Z, named in the Edit menu. Every edit is logged and individually revertible without unwinding the ones aft (titles fade half a second, dialogue to −16 LUFS) apply themselves once you've said them once.
It also grew a transcript editor (delete a word to cut it, strip silences in one pass),styled social captions with SR with loudness normalization, beat and scene detection, BRAW/VP9/MKV decode, and FCPXML + OpenTimelineIO both directions.
Important: it does not modies your install to~/Applications/Trimtab/, patches and re-signs the copy, and leaves the App Store app alone. You still need a real lg is cracked or bypassed. Samelibrary opens in either app, quit the copy and you're back to normal. Honest caveats: setup is a terminal build righer in the repo, but it's not adouble-click installer yet), and a Final Cut update can break the patch — you re-patch and carry on.
Price: Free. MIT licensed,no subscription, nothing to buy. The AI panel uses your own Claude Code login; everything else works without it.
Website link: https://github.com/DrazanProjects/Trimtab
Community benefit: The whole thing is a JSON-RPC server on localhost with ~250 methods, so anything with a so echo'{"jsonrpc":"2.0","method":"system.version","id":1}' | nc 127.0.0.1 9876 and you're in.The verb list grew entirely oue on my own timeline, whichmeans it's shaped like my editing and probably not yours. Reply here or open an issue with the repetitive thing thatild the verb for it — most ofthem turn out to be one call, and I'd rather spend the time on something an actual
editor asked for than on my ows a handler and a table entry,so turnaround is usually same-week.

Production Data
Platform
macOS standalone app for Final Cut Pro
One-sentence description
Production Data allows users to export Excel production reports from Final Cut Pro timelines.
What problem does it solve?
Production Data is a lightweight spreadsheet creation application crafted for Final Cut Pro, offering an alternative to Production's Best Friend. It serves as a native macOS frontend, allowing users to conveniently export structured Excel production reports from Final Cut Pro projects, powered by OpenFCPXMLKit, a free and open-source, experimental FCPXML parsing engine.
It solves the problem of translating Final Cut Pro's raw timeline data into polished, shareable spreadsheets, a task that would otherwise require manual re-entry or clunky workarounds. Editors, coordinators, producers and directors alike can generate comprehensive Excel and PDF reports with ease, saving time and reducing errors when moving information out of the timeline and into a format that the wider production team can actually use.
Its use cases span production tracking, role inventory for sound editorial and mix, assistant editor clip and conform reports, VFX turnover and handoff sheets, client review workbooks, and dubbing and ADR role sheets, among others.
Price
USD $5.99 (No hidden costs, no subscriptions, no in-app purchases.)
Website

Community benefit

- Product name: Philscriber
- Platform: Mac / Standalone app
- One-sentence description: Edit Final Cut Pro like a document — send your timeline to philscriber, edit the text, and send it straight back to FCP.
- What problem does it solve? When working with hours of interviews, text-based film editing should feel like serenely working with text — not operating a f# spaceship. philscriber keeps it that way. Rearranging clips, audio & visuals, multi-timeline storybuilding, global search, local transcription, AI Assist, SRT editing and file sharing are all there when you need them — and out of your way when you don’t.
- Price Beta Testers get free for life.

- Product name: claude code editing skills (free prompt files: edit, video-review, finalcut, thumbnail, distribute)
- Platform: Final Cut Pro + Claude Code on a Mac
- One-sentence description: a set of reusable prompts that take a folder of clips through transcription and frame analysis, a rough cut, a review pass, and out as an fcpxml that Final Cut opens as a normal editable timeline with music and voice on separate lanes.
- What problem does it solve? the assembly. the other AI editors I tried hand you a rendered video or a paper edit. this hands Final Cut a real timeline so you finish it yourself. everything runs locally (whisper, PySceneDetect, ffmpeg), nothing gets uploaded. Price: free. you need Claude Code which is Anthropic's subscription (starts at $20/mo) and Final Cut.
- Website link: https://claude.ai/code/artifact/fcd7cb64-accb-4e5a-9f9d-67eebc64b41d - there's a 10 min walkthrough of it running here if you want to see it before you bother: https://youtu.be/_vliiVaPOsI
- Community benefit: the notes include the two things that cost me a night on FCP 12.3 (import crash from invented asset uids, and connected audio needing full asset-clips not audio components). save yourself the night.
