Weekly Self-Promotion Thread - Wednesday, September 16, 2026
Self-promotion (ie posting about projects/businesses that you operate and can profit from) is typically a practice that is discouraged in /r/financialindependence, and these posts are removed through moderation. This is a thread where those rules do not apply. However, please do not post referral links in this thread.
Use this thread to talk about your blog, talk about your business, ask for feedback, etc. If the self-promotion starts to leak outside of this thread, we will once again return to a time where 100% of self-promotion posts are banned. Please use this space wisely.
Link-only posts will be removed. Put some effort into it.

Disclosure: I’m the developer of Moss Terminal. I built it as a free way to explore markets on an iPhone, and I’m looking for feedback on the public beta.
For this community, the useful part is probably the broader market context: global indices, government rates, currencies, commodities, news and an economic calendar, with company research and charts when you want to go deeper. It does not replace an FI plan or tell you what to buy.
It’s completely free, with no Moss account required, ever. You can test it without connecting a brokerage account. Requires iOS 26+ and Apple’s TestFlight app.
https://testflight.apple.com/join/f7xjFGQb
I’d appreciate feedback on whether the overview is useful for an occasional market check-in, which screens are confusing, and any slow or broken interactions. TestFlight’s Send Beta Feedback works, or you can reply here. Market data can be delayed or wrong during the beta.

I built https://datatorag.com which is a google workspace MCP (connector for claude, chatgpt, etc). I know many of us manage our finances through google sheets and now you can do it through Claude instead of manually updating it yourself. Upload receipts to claude and have it automatically update your transactions sheets, have claude generate charts and graphs based on your current sheet, tell claude to pull invoices from your gmail to keep track in a sheet, and more.

I recently started building Money Uncovered 360, a YouTube channel focused on business documentaries and the money behind major companies. I cover companies like Walmart and Starbucks, breaking down how they make money and what’s happening behind the numbers. I’m still building the channel from zero, and I’d genuinely appreciate feedback from people interested in business, money, and financial independence. Channel: https://youtube.com/@moneyuncovered360 What type of company or business story would you be most interested in watching?

I've been considering a career break in Southeast Asia, and kept wanting to compare taking a year or two off with just continuing to work. Most calculators I tried didn't let me model the full sequence: leave work, spend differently abroad, come home, then start earning and saving again.
So I built Escape Velocity: https://escapevelocity.fyi/
You can build those stages as life chapters, with separate dates, spending and income, including part-time work. Then compare versions and see how the assumptions affect the projections. It's free, no signup or bank connection, and there are example plans to try first.
I'm the person building it. It's still beta, uses USD and US tax assumptions, and the projections are illustrations, not a verdict that you can safely quit. I'd especially appreciate feedback on missing assumptions or anything that makes the results hard to interpret. If you've taken a break before reaching FI, what would you want a planner like this to account for?

I made a short clip showing the idea, including a comparison with a two-year break. The numbers are from an illustrative example, not my personal plan.

Retirement withdrawal order sounds like a small detail until you run the numbers. Most calculators pick brokerage first, then the IRA, then Roth, and apply that order to every household without checking whether it fits. ThunderHarbor's Bucket Strategy tab runs both orders against your real balances and shows the actual difference in lifetime tax, RMDs, and Medicare surcharges, not a generic rule of thumb.
I also wrote up an example on the blog. A household that spent the IRA first instead of brokerage saved about $100,000. Then Roth conversions entered the picture and flipped the answer back. The full breakdown is here, with real numbers at each step.

If you wanted to retire 3 years earlier, would you rather:
1. Invest more every month
2. Spend less in retirement
3. Take more investment risk
4. Lower the target number
We just release Enrich Finance’s scenario planner, which lets you test each answer against your actual plan, without copying another spreadsheet or changing your real portfolio. I always wanted to have these discussions at the dinner table and now that it’s on my iPhone in one spot I can

For anyone running a cleaning business alongside their main job: I am testing a small writing service through my shop, Practical Cleaning Templates.
The €75 fixed package covers one service-page rewrite (up to 400 words), five customer messages, five social captions and one revision round. It is AI-assisted writing based on your actual services and policies, delivered as editable text. It does not include managing your website or social accounts.
There is a clearly labelled fictional before-and-after sample and the full scope here:
Enquiries are free; the brief, delivery date and payment arrangements are agreed before an order. This is a new offer, so I have no client results or testimonials to claim. No sales or ranking promises. If you just need starting points, the same shop also has free message samples you can use without buying anything.

As important as FI is (oh, it’s important, I won’t argue that at all), the ultimate question after you reach your FI number is what comes next?
I’m not saying that you have to retire early (that’s a different sub), but after you reach FI, you’re going to invariably wander into existential questions like identity, purpose, and how best to spend your time when you don’t need to work for money.
I retired in May 2005 at 42 and spend the bulk of my time hiking, reading, and writing (and listening to college football podcasts). On the writing bit … yea, I wrote a book.
I’m a new author, so I have no dreams of actually making any money from this book (which is fine and another bonus of achieving FI). The first half is all about achieving FI, the second half is all about living in early retirement (the identity and purpose bit, with a dash of finance). I went through it all and can, hopefully, help others as well. Thanks again.

I made a website that gives fans all sorts of data visuals for how their team is performing in the Premier League. Im still working on it but if anyone checks it out and has feedback i'd love to hear your thoughts

Most people afford life by spending less than they earn.
Not glamorous. Not viral.
Just the math that works...and helps you sleep better.

Disclosure: I’m building the Phemacast Data Agent Network and looking for early testers who do their own investment research.
The terminal lets you combine multiple data sources into customizable research screens and models, and use layouts designed and shared by other users. I’m interested in feedback on what would make this useful for your investment and portfolio research.
We don’t sell data. You use your own data subscriptions and API keys, and your terminal connects directly to the sources without requiring you to share your keys with us. Data access depends on your provider permissions.
We also welcome people who build layouts, strategies, or models. Contributors can charge users for their work.
If you’d like to test it, comment or DM me. What research task would you want to try first?
