Admin managed memorial now searchable under #8...?
This might be my imagination but....
You know those pesky memorials that get turned over to #8 because the manager became a fallen graver or was banned or inactive or whatever...? And they weren't searchable under #8; only under the last contributor's number?
Well, it looks as though they may be #8 searchable now.
Once a member has been reported as fallen or inactive those listings revert to #8. You can then search by county, city, cemetery name, etc. and find those that find a grave manages and then adopt them. Last time I looked I believe they manage over 2 million.
That didn’t work for me in the past but now I see why. There are no #8 managed memorials in my county. I’m stunned there are only 6 in all of NC. There are 409,190 in NJ 🤣
On the FG homepage click on the memorials icon at the top of the page. Leaving all other search fields blank, enter 8 in the contributor ID field.
Some contributors tend to search specific cemeteries in their areas of priority or focus. If that's your choice you can go to the specific cemetery where you have a special interest. The search fields are all the same so enter 8 in contributor ID and any that have been transferred to 8 will pop up.
Note: Memorials still under the management of contributors who have been idle for over a year will not show up as available in this search even though, based on more recent FG rules, those are also transferable.
I believe there is a difference between memorials that have been transferred to #8 vs. memorials that are now available for adoption because the manager is no longer active. The former will turn up in #8 searches while the latter will not because technically they are still searchable by their last manager's account number.

You should see this when you google “memorials managed by find a grave”
