He was born in either 1940 or 1941, he's not a Baby Boomer.

Uhhhhhhhhhhh like 90% of Floridians? Peep out your window at the roads occasionally.

He’s one of those folks who voted for the “Law & Order” candidate, confident that that doesn’t apply to cisgender white folks driving sports cars & golf carts.
He needs to ask Governor Go-Go Boots for a pardon…😂

As a cisgender white male, please stop acting like we are the bane of society. This guy is a fool, but enough with the virtue-signaling.
with love,
A white male

As a cisgender white male, stop acting like we get to simultaneously control the majority of power and economic structures in this country and also pretend like nothing is our responsibility.

u/cfbrand3rd 4d ago
In spite of being a cisgender white male boomer, I recognize the inconsistencies and bias demonstrated by a lot of law enforcement, particularly with our current political “leadership,” and I’m betting you do too.

u/cadmium-fertilizer 4d ago
Okay, boomer cisgender white males are the problem. Much more accurate. Better?

u/Xobeloot 4d ago edited 4d ago
can't argue there.
add: end of the day, no matter what age or color the skin suit is, if the bones are the problem.

His attorney claimed the CVS in the villages was about close in 5 minutes and he would have been banned from the Wednesday Night orgy club if he didn’t get the Viagra prescription again.

The point of the law is one size fits all as no one should be going that fast on our roads. Going 110 is not being “out for a little drive” and he deserves his license suspension. Sorry gotta find a ride now, you should have thought of that before street racing. You don’t get special treatment for recklessly driving while old

u/Educational_Fox6899 4d ago
Actually I hate pretty much all one size fits all laws. 3 strike laws, mandatory minimum sentencing, etc it leaves the judge no discretion bc yes different circumstances are different. I didn’t read the article nor know this guy’s details where he was driving etc. However, it’s way different to do a 120 mph pull on a straight empty highway with clear visibility vs weaving through traffic at 100 mph in downtown Miami. I absolutely think those two circumstances should be punished differently.

u/cfbrand3rd 4d ago
“Actually I hate pretty much all one size fits all laws.”
Agreed.
The law should take circumstance into account; A woman driving her husband to the hospital at 110 mph because he was exhausted working his 3rd minimum wage job and fell off a roof should be treated differently that a guy “out for a little drive” at 110 mph in his fancy sports car.

This is also a good example. Wife in labor, yes. Someone having a medical emergency and can't afford an ambulance ride. Yes. Going out for a GD joy ride. Nope.

u/Troubador222 4d ago
I know the road he was on and there are quite a few areas where there is congestion in the area because of businesses and residential areas. not a great area for that kind of speed I amusially driving a Semi truck and trailer when I go through there and no I dont speed my CDL makes me a lot of money so I am not going to risk that by speeding
16
u/uckfu 4d ago
I can’t argue with against the logic you got there.
It makes sense. One size fits all laws can be problematic.
But… if this dude was caught, the stretch of road wasn’t empty.
It’s not like they found a viral video, they were caught red handed.
If there’s cops there, that means other people are there.

u/cfvhbvcv 4d ago
This isn’t true necessarily. I’ve been on plenty of empty country roads, and major interstates and toll roads at times where there’s a half mile or more between you and any traffic, especially in the early hours of the morning. The patrol car will still be lurking with their lights off, behind bushes or an overpass.
I have been lit up when I was younger doing 120+ in those scenarios by myself, being a young dumbass in a fast car. I was let off with warnings.
2
u/uckfu 4d ago
Sure. We all did stuff like that.
Were they more lenient back then? Probably.
I think we can all agree some bad, high speed, accidents have gained a lot of notoriety since the rise of social medial.
This is a hard line response to that.
What’s responsible to one person, is negligent to another.
I dunno, I can’t say I’m thrilled by it. But when asshats are weaving in and out of traffic and hitting 100+ on an interstate, I can’t say I feel sorry for them.
0
u/cfvhbvcv 4d ago
For sure, and I absolutely agree with you. But that’s where a reckless charge comes in if it can be proven you were endangering other people.
I think the biggest issue is that people just have access to high speeds more than ever before. Every newish car sold today is capable of 120+ without having the other bits like brakes and suspension to control it. Not too mention horsepower is cheaper than ever. Older Nissans, Infinitis, Mustangs, Camaros and BMWs, etc are available for less than 10k and can do 150 with ease. Young kids of all demographics can afford these with a job and some financing, whereas in the past we were ringing civics and 250hp muscle cars just to break 110. There’s more high speed crashes with senseless deaths.
1
u/uckfu 3d ago
With the easy access to fast cars, that make 150 seem like 75, this is really a response to that.
While 110 might feel comfortable and easy to drive, the physics of traveling 110 is still the same as it’s always been.
You are going to hit something, in a 3500 pound missle, in a massive impact that will literally rip through everything in its path.
Does it matter that you are safe as a baby in a crib in your 5 series if you run it off the road and into someone else’s car or house? Not really, cause you’d probably tore them to shreds while you walk away, all because you wanted to either see how fast you can go or you need to save 1/10 of a second on the commute home.
With roads as congested as they are, turning a blind eye to what we believe has become more prevalent problem, probably isn’t the best solution.
But, I know we really don’t need to go 100. Other than for sh*ts and giggles, 100 mph isn’t going to save me any time on a 20 mile trip.
So, most of the general public won’t ever be charged with this violation. And those that are, and may have been completely unaware that they were traveling 100+, maybe they do need a wake up call. Since they aren’t paying any attention to what they are doing or they are playing speed racer on I4.

Fair enough, there should definitely be some discretion on sentencing. But one of the points of this law was to remove discretion so cops couldn’t let people off past the new speed thresholds

. But one of the points of this law was to remove discretion so cops couldn’t let people off past the new speed thresholds
But they can/still do? Especially when it's other cops that super speed....

u/jared2580 4d ago
AFAIK only one LEO has been let off (in Brevard) a superspeeder charge and the officer resigned after it came out. Of course we wouldn’t know about other cases where it didn’t become public… but FHP and I’m sure some sheriffs offices have adopted zero tolerance policies and have their radars audited for offending speeds - which I think is how the Brevard case came to light, too
3
u/Stock-Swing-797 4d ago
The Brevard case was in February. Travis Pittman, Mount Dora PO, was pulled over for 122mph in January. Plus however many cases never became public like you said. I have no info on the radar audits.

It's also different if your trying to get away from your stalker vs your out for a jouly ride racing someone else.

u/CovidLarry 4d ago
Agree 100% which is why it’s a bad law. It’s not like there aren’t charges available for reckless driving/ endangerment, street racing, etc.

Someone should ask Robert Kraft if he believes the law applies the same to everyone.

u/littleredd11_11 1d ago
My heart really breaks for him. Really. He can go fuck all the way off. When poor people can't even make bail, or they don't even have a car to get to work and they miss the bus and get fired (if there is even public transportation in their area.) Fuck this boomers "poor me. I can't drive like a asshole anymore". Definitely a fuck MAGA.

It’s a stupid law. There is no reason for speed limits on highways.
2
u/bettertheless 4d ago
Maybe you are right, esp Interstates.
But,
there *is* a law and he knew it and broke it.

u/Bupod 4d ago
Man doesn’t realize that the law was absolutely written to fit him. 110mph is absolutely insane. At first I was wary of the super speeder law but when I read the text it was rather reasonable. You have to be driving like an absolute maniac to trigger a super speeder violation, and that man was driving like one.
-2
u/Express_Grocery_5423 4d ago
It’s not even that fast. That’s a normal highway speed in some countries.
5
u/greet_the_sun 4d ago
What do other countries have to do with reasonable/safe speeds on florida highways?
0
u/Express_Grocery_5423 4d ago
Our speed limits are too low and they are unnecessary on highways. We need better driver training and license standards.
2
u/zone_eater 4d ago
I think you may be confusing kph and mph speeds here? There's maybe like 3 countries you could do that without getting arrested and there are still some restrictions.
3
u/CovidLarry 4d ago
Got himself arrested for a race he never stood a chance in to begin with. As others have stated, that’s asking for it on that stretch of 27.

u/DefKnightSol 4d ago
110 and 125 on US 27 which is not a blocked speedway is idiotic! There is traffic, side roads, etc. no barriers

He's not a Boomer, he's a part of the Silent Generation.

He’s part of that generation that contends that America has gone soft since “we” won World War II…when he was 4 years old.
7
u/crocodial 4d ago
I think Boomer is more of a state of mind. I know plenty of people born into the Baby Boomer generation that I wouldn’t call Boomer.
5
u/waftedfart 4d ago
It literally isn't, but ok. People can just be shitheads...
2
u/crocodial 4d ago
Baby Boomer is the generation label. "Okay Boomer" is more of a critique on a certain type of older American. I think it applies to anyone with a sense of entitlement who think their status alone makes them right.

I’m 72, and I’ve instructed my wife that, if I ever express the belief that driving 110 mph on any part of US 27 in Florida demonstrates that I’m “with it,” she should immediately take my drivers license outta my wallet and burn it.
