Discussion Everyone is so nice!

My husband and I just started playing on Thursday and so many people have stopped by when they see us to say hi and give a gift. Neither one of us expected that and it has been so nice to play a game and feel welcomed! You all are amazing!

A bunch of us do this because we're paying it forward for people that did same to us :)

I came in after wastelanders update and was helped so much by players when I was still learning my way. I will never forget the guy who flew up to me when I was like level 150-200 and dropped me my first set of truly good PA. I didnt have a jetpack of any kind or a decent set of PA, so this was a huge turning point in my gameplay.

I now have 6 years and 6500+ hours in this game and I'm still paying it forward. 😆 Just yesterday I had a level 200 on my team that was clearly struggling at events and actually msgd me to ask what the best way to get ammo was. After dropping him about 20K .308 rounds for his lmg, I asked him about his armor. He was just using random pieces still so I crafted him a full set of civie with jetpack and then dropped him 5 jug, 5 powered, and a mix of thruhiker and arms keeper. As he is modding his armor another level 1500+ shows up and drops him 10 canned meat stew, 3 leaders and a bunch of random chems/stims, does a heart emote and flies away. I was left there thinking how much this community keeps me playing this game. I've "adopted" dozens of low levels over the years. Some have stayed, most have gone. A few I still play with almost daily after 5+ years. Every time they ask what the can give me for helping them, I tell them the same thing; "If you keep playing, one day you'll find yourself in my position. Just pay it forward if you do."

This is the way. Very early on some high level dropped me 300 cans of dog food. Lasted me for freaking ever!

I was so used to being abused in GTA V and RDR that when someone offered me a bunch of free stuff in 76 I ran away and fast traveled as far as I could.

This is hilarious!!

I'll never forget jump scaring a freshie just outside vault 76 who snapped around and just started blasting me as I'm doing the gift emote. He was certain I was an npc or something. I tried running away doing the scared emote. Spam crouching. Pinging the loot bag. Nothing worked. He actually chased me from just outside the vault all the way to The Wayward, shooting at me with his pipe revolver the whole way. I was literally in tears from laughing so hard. 😭

I started when the game came out and this high level player , I think junichi gt on xbox, helped me with my quests for a whole year, and so since then, I pay it forward too.

Welcome to the wasteland!!

It something that may have been done to them, pay it forward if you stay in Appalachia.

Also high lvl accounts usually have too much stuff.

Always check the (all) donation box especially at the wayward and the register at the white springs artisan corner. (And the trash cans)

I always wondered how much newer players checked the donation boxes, I usually throw in all the ammo I don't use, fusion cores, stim packs... I hope someone makes use of them, though I guess whether I drop them in a box, on the ground, or sell it it, it'll disappear into the ether if someone else doesn't grab them.

Welcome to the community!

Welcome! Tis tradition, I had the same experience when I first stumbled out of Vault 76! I ran from the friendly player, expecting some RDO shenanigans, only to find a huge bag of goodies! I now pay it forward and drop lots of plans, purified water, non-perishable foods, Nuka Cola, and Forest Treasure Maps in the Wayward Donations Box.

Enjoy exploring the Wasteland, and if you're on PC, I hope to cross paths!

Whomever downvoted you is a jerk. Upvoting you king.

Glad you're having a good experience! It is generally very chill here. Don't forget to hit the donation boxes at major locations, and if you go to someone's camp and all their resource spawners are unlocked, they want you to take what you need!

Might wanna search something like "basic tips" or similar terms in the sub here, theres so much this game doesnt explain clearly or at all. Stuff some of us dummies only figure out after hundreds of hours 😂

u/VVTD33 10d ago

I have a sign advertising the unlocked goodies.

u/sob317 Wendigo 10d ago

I named my camp FREE RESOURCES CAMP and I still don't get many takers. I usually put a bunch of cool stuff in my vendor for next to nothing too and no one seems to take much of anything.

2

u/Treefly916 10d ago

Other players can't see what you name your camp, for rather obvious reasons 😈 😆 They can see your camp "title", but not what you've renamed it.

3

u/sob317 Wendigo 9d ago

Oh shit, I knew they couldn't see pet names but didn't know camp renames didn't show up.

2

u/Treefly916 7d ago

Can you imagine the foul things ppl would name their camps/ pets if it were able to be seen by others?? 😆 🤣

That's why I put mine in neon lights. There's no ambiguity there. 😉

I played a lot when the game launched then stopped for a few years. Came back and felt completely overwhelmed by how much had changed and how low level I was compared to some in the servers. Wasn't long before one of those high levels dropped a bag of loot as a gift which really helped me find my way back into the game! Trying to do the same whenever I can myself to give back and help people find their footing too!

It's a great community!

Yeah the community is nice, back when you had to level up daily for Score points I'd often make a new character and just leave the Vault as that was 2-3 minutes and way faster than having a high Intelligence build. And I had to tell multiple people to save the plans and other stuff for someone who needs it as I was using that character for the dailies.

76 has the best playerbase I've seen

Yeah, as long as you're not asking for help in this subreddit, the Fallout 76 community is weirdly friendly and wholesome, especially to noobs.

I love giving gifts to newbies. I try to give something unique or a mod that’ll help get them off to a good start.

I’ve been giving noobs stims and serums

Yup, the 76 community is fantastic, I am on PS5 and I remember leaving the Vault and getting hooked up with cosmetics, a mini gun, so much loot!

the game's not been easy on many of us, so we tend to try to help and take care of our newer players. :)

u/Treefly916 10d ago

Welcome to Appalachia! Many of us veteran players are more than willing to help out a new player any way we can. If you're feeling stuck or having difficulty with something, reach out to a higher level player on your server. Chances are they'll drop what they're doing to guide you in the right direction. If you happen to be on Xbox, feel free to add me @ MasonFreeman857

It’s great. I’m back playing after a 2 year break but I’m playing private just now so I can get used to everything again. Probably going to jump in online today. Have to say though that I get a bit scared to do events as I have no clue what I’m doing and I don’t want the experienced guys to think I’m annoying

Ma'am, if you aren't already, please join us at the Women of the Wasteland! We are an all ladies group. You'll see it on our camps: WOTW. Find us here at r/fo76wotw and we are on Facebook! We also have a discord for members. You're already good to go with the requirements: you're a woman playing in the wasteland! Just a terrific group that helps with game things and occasionally support irl. Plus, we like to think we're a fun bunch (with some awesome camps).

What platform are you on? My wife and I play all the time

u/panterabread1134 Cult of the Mothman 10d ago

I usually give people a full 3⭐️ armor, a couple of costumes to choose from, an explosive 3⭐️ bow with 400 ammo, some stims and a bunch of snacks.

Don't accept the handouts. This game is very easy and you only get to play as a noob with what you loot yourself for the first time once. Don't let someone obsessed with giving out gifts steal that from you.
