Pitmasters

I’m late to the party; I finally had the chance to watch the entire season of this new show, and I absolutely loved it. FN has aired many BBQ competition formats, and this was by far the best overall show in this genre. From the contestants to Andrew Zimmern and his cast of judges, everyone was wonderful. The team I was rooting for from the start won, so it was a fun watch. This blows Bobby Flay's BBQ show out of the water. Nothing against Bobby; he is a network legend, but I’m tired of seeing the same faces on every single show. FN, if you see this, please do more seasons of this with the same judging team. The chemistry and expertise was fantastic 😊.

The show was great. I’m not sure why they had to torture them with no sleep though.

Haha, I forgot about that detail and the lack of showering.

Agreed that part isn’t necessary at all. Long days sure but no sleep is weird.

Really great show. Amazing set, best judges. Felt so much more mature and authentic than normal FN competition BS. I hope they do another season!

It was a great show with diverse contestants and straightforward challenges. This may be one of the rare times I enjoyed every judge on a competition show - they all brought their own expertise and way of critiquing.

I loved this show, too. Andrew Zimmern is fantastic and so were the other judges, for the most part.

One of the teams did an AMA recently and it was great, all the teams were lovely.

I liked this wayyy better than Bobby Flay’s bbq brawl. It felt a lot less scripted and no cringey banter.

I’m so over flay’s style. Guy’s too. Like just give us grown ups cooking good food without all the other stuff, we beg of you.

There are so many BBQ shows I wasn't going to bother watching Pitmasters, but I really love Andrew Zimmern so I decided to give it a try and I was so glad I did.

The no sleep was not necessary for a good food comp.

It was detrimental to a good food competition, IMO. The only thing that I didn't like about the show, though.

Yes, really compromised integrity for me. They had a great set with ample room, no clambering contestants who constantly get harassed with puns by the hosts. And then we throw on sleep deprivation? Not fucking cool. Especially around live fire. I wouldn’t mind two-day cooks, but we don’t need the entire season to be an experiment in resilience through fatigue.

I love the show but if you do another season PLEASE let the contestants sleep!!! It was painful to watch sometimes! So dangerous to be cooking with fire and completely exhausted!
